Where do I sell used clothes?

I'm moving away next year and I have a heap of clothes that I need to just dispose of. I don't care about the money, just need to get rid of it. I'm moving away next year and I have a heap of clothes that I need to just dispose of. I don't care about the money, just need to get rid of it.

If you're near any of the big Hard Off or Off House locations in the suburbs, they have those donation bins out front for clothes that are too worn to sell. Drove out to the one in Machida last month and dumped three bags without talking to a single person. No money, but also no questions about condition or brand.

just take them to Book Off or 2nd Street. there's one in Shimokitazawa and another in Harajuku that'll take basically anything. they pay by weight so you'll get like 100 yen for a whole bag but it's a one-stop drop off thing

if you really don't care about the money at all, hit up a H&M or UNIQLO. they have textile recycling bins. any Uniqlo store will take your clothes for free, no purchase required. just dump em in the box by the register

also check your ward's website for "genba gomi" days. sometimes you can just leave stuff out with a sticker and they'll pick it up. way less hassle than trying to coordinate with secondhand shops

The mottainai flea market app is worth a look if you want it gone fast. You post photos and people claim items for pickup, no negotiating involved. Just set a time and leave the bag by your door. I've cleared out a whole closet that way in a weekend.

if u have a costco membership the kirkland thick cut is the move, 4 packs of 500g for around 2500 yen and it crisps up proper in a cold pan. for smaller runs, precce in azabudai hills & the basement at isetan shinjuku both carry imported US & danish brands in the chilled case, just read the label for "thick cut" or "smoked" and not "loin". also worth knowing japanese bacon is often wet-cured so pat it dry before frying or it steams instead of crisping

kaldi coffee farm is hit or miss but their smoked bacon from denmark shows up pretty regular, the 200g pack runs about 600 yen. what actually works better for me is asking the butcher counter at peacock or life to slice the block bacon thick, like 5mm, they do it for free and it crisps way better than the pre-packed stuff. also fwiw cheap bacon crisps faster, the fatty supermarket kind at 300 yen a pack works fine if u cook it from cold in a dry pan and pour off the fat as it renders.

tbh the gyomu super store brand bacon is surprisingly decent for crisping up, its not thick cut but if you cook it low and slow it gets pretty crunchy. the key is the dry cure vs wet cure thing, wet cure steams. also check hanamasa if you have one nearby, they sell big packs of american style bacon thats actually smoked and firm.
