Places to let my dog run off leash in south Tokyo / Kanagawa?

I know there's a few dog parks but it still feels a bit clamped for big dogs. Another option/question: in isolated places, for example along the Tama river, is it tolerated to let dogs run freely or is still a big no?

Thank you.

theres a spot near omori station, actually, that a lot of people dont know about. walk south along the river from omori exit, past the big intersection with the 7-eleven, and theres a concrete slope down to a gravel area under the bridge. its kind of hidden by trees and bushes. i see a guy with a golden retriever there every sunday morning, he lets it swim in the shallow bits. no one bothers them.

if you want something more official but still close, try the dog run in den-en-chofu. its a 15 min walk from the station, behind the sports center. its fenced and bigger than the oimachi one, maybe twice the size. they have separate areas for big and small dogs. 300 yen for an hour. i take my shepherd there sometimes when the river feels too risky.

tama river is fine as long as you're not right by the popular walking paths. i go to the stretch near yagiyama station, there's a wide dirt area between the embankment and the water where nobody really goes. just keep moving if you see a cop or a mom with a stroller.

for something completely fenced and way bigger than those tiny city runs, there's a dog park in kawasaki's nakahara ward park. it's like a 5 min walk from musashi-nakahara station and has actual grass, not just dirt. 200 yen, they check vaccination papers once and then you're set. my friend's great dane loves it there.

honestly the tama river is hit or miss, depends who's around. if you go far enough south past the rokkodo bridge toward kawasaki, there's wide gravel banks where nobody cares. i've seen big dogs sprinting there plenty. but if a patrol car rolls by or a family with a tiny yorkie shows up, they'll prob give you a look.

there's a proper off-leash dog run in oimachi, the one behind the civic center, but yeah it's small. for big dogs you're better off driving to yokohama's kodomo no kuni, they have a massive field with real grass. 500 yen entry, worth it imo.

also check the ground near kamata station east exit, there's a weird empty lot between the train tracks and the river that people use for disc golf and dogs. not official but nobody bothers you on weekdays. just watch for broken glass.

if u have a costco membership the kirkland thick cut is the move, 4 packs of 500g for around 2500 yen and it crisps up proper in a cold pan. for smaller runs, precce in azabudai hills & the basement at isetan shinjuku both carry imported US & danish brands in the chilled case, just read the label for "thick cut" or "smoked" and not "loin". also worth knowing japanese bacon is often wet-cured so pat it dry before frying or it steams instead of crisping

kaldi coffee farm is hit or miss but their smoked bacon from denmark shows up pretty regular, the 200g pack runs about 600 yen. what actually works better for me is asking the butcher counter at peacock or life to slice the block bacon thick, like 5mm, they do it for free and it crisps way better than the pre-packed stuff. also fwiw cheap bacon crisps faster, the fatty supermarket kind at 300 yen a pack works fine if u cook it from cold in a dry pan and pour off the fat as it renders.

tbh the gyomu super store brand bacon is surprisingly decent for crisping up, its not thick cut but if you cook it low and slow it gets pretty crunchy. the key is the dry cure vs wet cure thing, wet cure steams. also check hanamasa if you have one nearby, they sell big packs of american style bacon thats actually smoked and firm.
