Second hand book store in Tokyo??

Manga and you know what. Manga and you know what.

yeah those are solid picks, but for actual digging you gotta hit up Jimbocho. it's the book town district, like a dozen used bookstores on one street. some are super specialized, one shop on Yasukuni-dori has a whole floor just for old manga and magazines from the 70s and 80s. prices are a bit higher than Mandarake but you find stuff you won't see anywhere else. also a few shops there sell vintage posters and cell art if you're into that

honestly for manga you want to hit up Mandarake in Shibuya. it's in that basement on Udagawacho, like a 5 min walk from Hachiko. they've got whole walls of used manga for like 100-300 yen each, sorted by author and series. also a ton of doujinshi and old artbooks if you're into that

if you want something more chaotic try Book Off in Shimokitazawa. it's a chain but that location has a decent manga section and you never know what you'll find. sometimes you get lucky with complete series for cheap. just be prepared to dig through a lot of random stuff

if you're willing to go a little out of the way, Nakano Broadway is the real goldmine for secondhand manga. it's a whole building full of tiny shops, some specialize in specific genres or old shonen jump issues. the Mandarake there is huge and has stuff sorted by series, even the really niche stuff. just bring cash, some of the smaller stalls don't take cards

if u have a costco membership the kirkland thick cut is the move, 4 packs of 500g for around 2500 yen and it crisps up proper in a cold pan. for smaller runs, precce in azabudai hills & the basement at isetan shinjuku both carry imported US & danish brands in the chilled case, just read the label for "thick cut" or "smoked" and not "loin". also worth knowing japanese bacon is often wet-cured so pat it dry before frying or it steams instead of crisping

kaldi coffee farm is hit or miss but their smoked bacon from denmark shows up pretty regular, the 200g pack runs about 600 yen. what actually works better for me is asking the butcher counter at peacock or life to slice the block bacon thick, like 5mm, they do it for free and it crisps way better than the pre-packed stuff. also fwiw cheap bacon crisps faster, the fatty supermarket kind at 300 yen a pack works fine if u cook it from cold in a dry pan and pour off the fat as it renders.

tbh the gyomu super store brand bacon is surprisingly decent for crisping up, its not thick cut but if you cook it low and slow it gets pretty crunchy. the key is the dry cure vs wet cure thing, wet cure steams. also check hanamasa if you have one nearby, they sell big packs of american style bacon thats actually smoked and firm.
