honestly if you're in tokyo and want something a bit different from the usual handmade silver, try kasuri in kuramae. it's a tiny shop run by an older couple who specialize in woven metal accessories, like necklaces and earrings made from antique kimono fabric woven with silver or copper thread. the pieces are really delicate and light, almost like textile jewelry. prices are around 8,000 to 20,000 yen depending on the complexity. kuramae itself is full of old school craft shops and coffee stands, so you can wander for hours

fwiw there's a spot called pieni near nakameguro station that's literally just a counter in a tiny old building with one woman making everything by hand. she does these really delicate wire-wrapped rings with tiny freshwater pearls and semi-precious stones, stuff that feels delicate but is actually sturdy enough for daily wear. prices are like 4,000 to 12,000 yen depending on the stone, and she can wrap a custom ring while you wait if you bring a stone or just pick from her tray. nakameguro is prob my favorite neighborhood for a relaxed afternoon, the canal path is right there and the river has cherry trees if you're here in spring

there's a tiny shop called atelier moco in kichijoji that does handmade silver and gold pieces, mostly minimalist with some cool organic shapes. the owner is a local metalsmith who works right there in the back, so you can see her bench and tools. prices are reasonable for the quality, like 5,000 to 15,000 yen for earrings and rings. kichijoji is worth the trip anyway for the vibe and the park nearby

if u have a costco membership the kirkland thick cut is the move, 4 packs of 500g for around 2500 yen and it crisps up proper in a cold pan. for smaller runs, precce in azabudai hills & the basement at isetan shinjuku both carry imported US & danish brands in the chilled case, just read the label for "thick cut" or "smoked" and not "loin". also worth knowing japanese bacon is often wet-cured so pat it dry before frying or it steams instead of crisping

kaldi coffee farm is hit or miss but their smoked bacon from denmark shows up pretty regular, the 200g pack runs about 600 yen. what actually works better for me is asking the butcher counter at peacock or life to slice the block bacon thick, like 5mm, they do it for free and it crisps way better than the pre-packed stuff. also fwiw cheap bacon crisps faster, the fatty supermarket kind at 300 yen a pack works fine if u cook it from cold in a dry pan and pour off the fat as it renders.

tbh the gyomu super store brand bacon is surprisingly decent for crisping up, its not thick cut but if you cook it low and slow it gets pretty crunchy. the key is the dry cure vs wet cure thing, wet cure steams. also check hanamasa if you have one nearby, they sell big packs of american style bacon thats actually smoked and firm.
