if you're coming from tokyo, the shin yokohama line from shibuya is pretty direct, about 25 mins. the arena's a 5 min walk from the station so you won't get lost. just a heads up that area gets packed on concert nights, maybe grab a beer at the hub near the station before heading in

honestly that's a solid venue for maiden, the sound in yokohama arena is pretty good for metal shows. if u haven't been before, the shin yokohama station area has a bunch of ramen shops that stay open late, perfect for after the show. just a heads up the trains back to tokyo run pretty frequently but the last ones are around midnight so keep an eye on the time

i think yokohama arena is pretty close to tokyo so that should be easy to get to

Is this garden entry fee in Tokyo a scam? 2026

Is that normal for gardens around there or was I being set up?

depends where. some small private gardens, especially the ones attached to temples or old estates, do charge a couple hundred yen cash at the gate and you just drop it in a box. no ticket is normal there. but if it was a random guy with no signboard and no price posted, that's off. legit places always have the fee written somewhere visible

yeah the signboard part is the giveaway tbh

The ones with a proper 入口 sign and a little 賽銭箱 are fine, it's the guy with nothing posted who's the problem.

Also watch for a proper 受付 counter or staffed window, since random guys collecting cash at unmarked gates are prob just scamming tourists.

yep temple gardens like Rikugien side shrines do this, but the box itself is the tell. a plain wooden box with a slot and a small お賽銭 label is normal. a guy holding the cash in his hand is not.

ask to see the kanji sign & the fee box first, since anywhere legit like Kyu-Furukawa or Happo-en posts it at the gate
