yeah i feel this. moved back to the uk after 4 years in shinjuku and the thing that hits me hardest isn't the convenience but the silence. trains here are loud, people are louder, and i miss how quiet the yamanote line could be at 7am. my visa lapsed too and the points system for a new one feels like a lottery i don't have time for
I moved back to the US after five years in Setagaya and the thing that gets me is how much I miss the onsen. There's no real equivalent here, and the public bath culture was something I took for granted. My visa situation is a mess now because I switched careers and don't have the right credentials for a work visa anymore.
Left after three years and honestly I miss the convenience of living there more than I expected. Can't go back because my visa expired and I don't qualify for the normal work one now.

yeah wednesday is quieter than tuesday tbh, and the panda line forms before 9 so queue by 9:15 at the ikebukuro gate
