Smoker friendly rooftop?
So I'm looking for the highest placed bar that allows smoking. All tips are appreciated
tbh most high-end skybars in tokyo are non-smoking now, but the new york bar at the park hyatt has a smoking terrace area outside, not the highest but solid views
if you're okay with a slightly more casual vibe, the tokyo edition in otemachi has a bar called the blue room with a smoking terrace on the 31st floor. it's not as high as andaz but the views are still great and they have a nice cocktail list. just ask for a seat near the terrace door when u check in, otherwise you might end up inside where it's non-smoking
honestly the andaz toranomon hills bar lets you smoke on their outdoor terrace and it's pretty high up, like 52nd floor i think. views are killer over the city and tokyo tower
Whitebox in Tokyo 2026: Is It Still Worth It?
yeah the old Whitebox spot got gutted around then, last I walked past it was a startup office on the upper floors. kuramae's decent but honestly Kiyosumi-Shirakawa side is quieter and the rents are still half of Shibuya. miyamasuzaka is basically all towers now.
kuramae's rents crept up too since the tawaman went in, kiyosumi side is still the better bet
whitebox actually closed back in 2018, the space is a gallery-slash-coworking thing now. shibuya's still fine to live in but the rents near miyamasuzaka have jumped hard, more office towers than studios these days. if you want that old creative vibe try kuramae or kiyosumi instead
