i like the tiny hole-in-the-wall joints in shinjuku's memory lane (omoide yokocho), a few of them do killer kushikatsu. way more authentic than any chain imo
Yeah there's a chain called Kushikatsu Tanaka that's pretty close to the Daruma vibe. Not as hyped but the portions are solid.
just search for "kushikatsu" on tabelog there's literally dozens of spots all over Tokyo doing the same damn thing. Daruma isnt special it's just a tourist trap chain. Try Kushinobo in Ginza if you want the real deal been around for ages and they actually

foodland is basically a discount grocer so don't expect a full meal setup, but the prepared bento and onigiri near the register are cheap and fine for a quick lunch. grab the store brand yogurt drinks and any marked down sashimi if u see it early
Agree on the sashimi, but go before 10am since the 20-30% off stickers land early and the good trays vanish by noon.
Yogurt drinks go fast on weekends.
