What's the best spot to watch the Jingu Gaien Fireworks Festival this Saturday?

Let me start by telling you guys, I'm not paying 7000 yen for a seat! It's just not something I'm willing to do. I refuse! I'd rather invest this money into a copious amount of beer.

I guess the lawns near the stadium will be full of people who cooked in the sun all day hogging the good spots.

What about the lawn in Yoyogi park? It's a bit far, but I guess the view is still nice. Is this one not too crowded if I show up around 6pm?

Or maybe someone knows of a good secret parking lot or something?

The roof of the Aoyama Gakuin University building 17 is not exactly secret but it's not well known either. You can see the high altitude shells perfectly from there and it's a lot less chaotic than the street level spots. Just walk in like you belong and take the elevator up, then find the outdoor terrace area. Get there by 6 and you'll have room to sit with your beer without anyone stepping on your blanket.

yoyogi park lawn is actually pretty solid for this, i've done it before. you can see the bigger shells clearly, the smaller ones get a bit blocked by trees but it's chill. show up closer to 5 if you want a decent patch of grass, by 6 it's busy but not sardine-level. bring a blanket and some strong zero cans, way better than dropping 7k on a seat

Forget about lawns, check the sidewalk along the Meiji-dori bridge right by the Gaien exit. It gets packed but people are usually moving, so you can slide into a spot even at 6:30 if you're patient. You'll be looking straight down the road at the shells going off above the trees, and the sound bounces off the buildings which is actually kind of cool. Just grab a Lawson egg sandwich and a beer from the FamilyMart on the corner, you're set.

Best time to visit Ueno Zoo in Tokyo 2026?

I'm visiting Tokyo for the first time in April 2026 and Ueno Zoo is high on my list. What's the best day and time to go to avoid crowds, and do I need to book tickets in advance?
