Where is the Tanabata festival today on the 7th of July?

When I googled to get a specific location I can only find the ones from the festivals from years ago. I'm not sure where to go. Thank you When I googled to get a specific location I can only find the ones from the festivals from years ago. I'm not sure where to go. Thank you

honestly if you're set on today specifically, asagaya is your best bet for the big one but it's packed. if you want something calmer, futako-tamagawa has a small tanabata thing at the shopping center, it's more of a family vibe with kids writing wishes on tanzaku. the decorations are up until evening but it's not a full-on matsuri with stalls. also check the weather, it's been super hot and humid this week so bring water either way

yeah the dates are confusing because a lot of places moved to gregorian calendar but some still follow the lunar one. if you're near kawasaki, the la cittadella shopping mall has a small tanabata event today with bamboo displays and wish cards, it's not a huge street festival but it's easy to just drop by. also the hikawa shrine in akasaka usually has decorations up around this time, it's a quick stop if you're in central tokyo. just keep an eye on the weather, it's been raining off and on

a lot of the big tanabata festivals in tokyo are actually in early july but not exactly on the 7th because they follow the solar calendar now. the one that's still running today is at asagaya in suginami, it goes until the 8th so you can still catch it. they have the big streamer decorations and a shopping street full of food stalls. if u want something closer to the actual date, shinagawa's got a smaller one at the shrine but it's more low-key

if u have a costco membership the kirkland thick cut is the move, 4 packs of 500g for around 2500 yen and it crisps up proper in a cold pan. for smaller runs, precce in azabudai hills & the basement at isetan shinjuku both carry imported US & danish brands in the chilled case, just read the label for "thick cut" or "smoked" and not "loin". also worth knowing japanese bacon is often wet-cured so pat it dry before frying or it steams instead of crisping

kaldi coffee farm is hit or miss but their smoked bacon from denmark shows up pretty regular, the 200g pack runs about 600 yen. what actually works better for me is asking the butcher counter at peacock or life to slice the block bacon thick, like 5mm, they do it for free and it crisps way better than the pre-packed stuff. also fwiw cheap bacon crisps faster, the fatty supermarket kind at 300 yen a pack works fine if u cook it from cold in a dry pan and pour off the fat as it renders.

tbh the gyomu super store brand bacon is surprisingly decent for crisping up, its not thick cut but if you cook it low and slow it gets pretty crunchy. the key is the dry cure vs wet cure thing, wet cure steams. also check hanamasa if you have one nearby, they sell big packs of american style bacon thats actually smoked and firm.
