Best spots for action figures outside of akihabara, sunshine city, and nakano broadway?

honestly the best kept secret is the kaiyodo hobby shop in meiji jingu mae, it's small but they carry stuff that's sold out everywhere else especially their revoltech line. if you're willing to go a bit further, the tamashii nations store in harajuku has exclusive figures that never make it to the usual spots, plus you can see prototypes in their display cases. for random finds, check out the hard off stores in machida or hino, they get a surprising amount of secondhand figures mixed in with the junk and prices are way better than akiba

the book off super bazaar in shinjuku also has a decent figure section tucked in the back, mostly prize figures but i've found some rare gashapon sets there. oh and the denden town in osaka is worth a mention if you ever make it down there, it's like a smaller akihabara with less tourists

if you're into trading figures or blind boxes, the kotobukiya flagship store in akihabara has a basement floor that's easy to miss but has a lot of stuff from their own lines plus some imported kits. the animate in ikebukuro has a whole floor for figure preorders and sometimes has display models of unreleased stuff that's worth seeing even if you don't buy. for secondhand hunting, the treasure factory stores in kichijoji and shimokitazawa are underrated, they get weird old figures from shows nobody remembers anymore and the pricing is random enough that you might score something good for cheap

mandarake in shibuya has a decent selection spread across multiple floors, not as overwhelming as nakano but still solid. if you're into vintage robot stuff or sofubi, check out the retro toy stores in koenji, there's like a dozen of them scattered along the main street. also, the yodobashi camera in akihabara gets all the attention but the one in shinjuku has a smaller but calmer toy floor where i've found random exclusives no one else bothered to stock. for gacha and prize figures, the taito station in ikebukuro often has newer stuff before akiba does

if u have a costco membership the kirkland thick cut is the move, 4 packs of 500g for around 2500 yen and it crisps up proper in a cold pan. for smaller runs, precce in azabudai hills & the basement at isetan shinjuku both carry imported US & danish brands in the chilled case, just read the label for "thick cut" or "smoked" and not "loin". also worth knowing japanese bacon is often wet-cured so pat it dry before frying or it steams instead of crisping

kaldi coffee farm is hit or miss but their smoked bacon from denmark shows up pretty regular, the 200g pack runs about 600 yen. what actually works better for me is asking the butcher counter at peacock or life to slice the block bacon thick, like 5mm, they do it for free and it crisps way better than the pre-packed stuff. also fwiw cheap bacon crisps faster, the fatty supermarket kind at 300 yen a pack works fine if u cook it from cold in a dry pan and pour off the fat as it renders.

tbh the gyomu super store brand bacon is surprisingly decent for crisping up, its not thick cut but if you cook it low and slow it gets pretty crunchy. the key is the dry cure vs wet cure thing, wet cure steams. also check hanamasa if you have one nearby, they sell big packs of american style bacon thats actually smoked and firm.
