Any recommendations for driving school for beginners near Kami Nakazato ?

You might want to check out the Tokyo Driving School in Otsuka, about 10 minutes from Kami Nakazato on the Yamanote Line. They've got a solid beginner package that includes both classroom and on-road practice, which is helpful if you're nervous about city driving. The instructors there are pretty patient, and they offer weekend slots that fill up fast, so book ahead.

There's a driving school in Tabata called Tabata Driving School that's about 20 minutes by foot from Kami Nakazato, or a quick bus ride. They're known for being less crowded than the bigger chain schools, so you can usually get more one-on-one time with the instructor during the practical sessions. Their beginner course runs around 300,000 yen for the standard package, which is pretty reasonable for Tokyo.

I think there's a Koyama Driving School in Sugamo that's not too far from Kami Nakazato, like a 15 minute train ride. They've got beginner courses and some instructors speak English if you need it.

I used to go there for exhibitions all the time but I heard it's changed, and I'm wondering if the neighborhood is still worth living in or if it's all just turned into offices now.

yeah the old Whitebox spot got gutted around then, last I walked past it was a startup office on the upper floors. kuramae's decent but honestly Kiyosumi-Shirakawa side is quieter and the rents are still half of Shibuya. miyamasuzaka is basically all towers now.

kuramae's rents crept up too since the tawaman went in, kiyosumi side is still the better bet

whitebox actually closed back in 2018, the space is a gallery-slash-coworking thing now. shibuya's still fine to live in but the rents near miyamasuzaka have jumped hard, more office towers than studios these days. if you want that old creative vibe try kuramae or kiyosumi instead
