Golfer here. Not too good, not too bad. Chill enough to run through 18 holes together and grab a drink afterwards. My only weakness is I just got my driver license so I currently cannot drive too well (no pun intended). I don't care about your age, color or sex as long as we don't talk about politics or religion on the course. I speak English and Japanese.
I may not be able to go hit the courses right away due to my immobility issue but I would love to just join a good golf community and expand my connection here in Tokyo. Anyone who would be down to do carpooling and live nearby, I can head to your station too. Dinner or lunch is on me.

there's a solid crew of golfers on the tokyo golf club facebook group, lots of folks carpool out to saitama or chiba. kawagoe green course is pretty forgiving for someone still getting used to driving, and they run a decent twilight rate around 5000 yen. the driving range under the tracks at shinbashi is good for meeting people too, just show up and ask to join someone's bay
the inakagolf meetup group does monthly outings to places like kawagoe or narita, pretty chill vibes and they're used to coordinating rides from stations. i joined last year when i was still shaky on highways and they split me with someone driving from my area, worked out fine. search 'tokyo inakagolf' on meetup, should pop up
honestly theres a pretty active golf community on the japan golf classifieds discord too. they do regular meetups at the edogawa driving range on saturday mornings, super beginner friendly and people are always offering rides out to kawagoe or kounosu. the guy who runs it is an american dude whos been here forever, he usually coordinates carpools in the chat a few days before. might be easier than facebook if youre not into that whole scene

if u have a costco membership the kirkland thick cut is the move, 4 packs of 500g for around 2500 yen and it crisps up proper in a cold pan. for smaller runs, precce in azabudai hills & the basement at isetan shinjuku both carry imported US & danish brands in the chilled case, just read the label for "thick cut" or "smoked" and not "loin". also worth knowing japanese bacon is often wet-cured so pat it dry before frying or it steams instead of crisping
kaldi coffee farm is hit or miss but their smoked bacon from denmark shows up pretty regular, the 200g pack runs about 600 yen. what actually works better for me is asking the butcher counter at peacock or life to slice the block bacon thick, like 5mm, they do it for free and it crisps way better than the pre-packed stuff. also fwiw cheap bacon crisps faster, the fatty supermarket kind at 300 yen a pack works fine if u cook it from cold in a dry pan and pour off the fat as it renders.
tbh the gyomu super store brand bacon is surprisingly decent for crisping up, its not thick cut but if you cook it low and slow it gets pretty crunchy. the key is the dry cure vs wet cure thing, wet cure steams. also check hanamasa if you have one nearby, they sell big packs of american style bacon thats actually smoked and firm.
