Hi all,

Hosting a work event for 18 gentlemen in Tokyo soon and would love your recommendations on a good place to eat, and then a good spot for darts/pool or another option for something to do.

Thank you in advance, I know this may be hard with the large number but we've made it work in the past.

honestly for 18 guys i'd skip the tourist spots and book a private room at a yakiniku place in Ueno. Places like Yakiniku Shichifuku have those all-you-can-eat deals that work well for big groups, around 4000 yen per person for 90 minutes. everyone gets to cook their own meat so no drama about splitting bills

after that head to Shibuya's Rumor for pool and darts, they've got a back room that fits 20 easy. just call ahead cause they sometimes have events booked. if pool's not your thing there's a karaoke spot called Rainbow on the same street that does private rooms and actually has decent booze selection

ngl 18 is a tricky number but I'd do a teppanyaki place in Asakusa like Asakusa Imahan, they got a private tatami room that fits big groups and the beef is legit. after that hit up Hub in Roppongi for drinks and darts, it's a british pub chain so they're used to crowds and have pool tables upstairs, just show up early to grab the space

For 18 people I'd hit up Piss Alley in Shinjuku for food, grab yakitori and beer at standing bars since it's tight but fun in a group. Then head to a place like TAC TAC in Shibuya for darts and pool, they've got space for big groups and it's not too pricey

if u have a costco membership the kirkland thick cut is the move, 4 packs of 500g for around 2500 yen and it crisps up proper in a cold pan. for smaller runs, precce in azabudai hills & the basement at isetan shinjuku both carry imported US & danish brands in the chilled case, just read the label for "thick cut" or "smoked" and not "loin". also worth knowing japanese bacon is often wet-cured so pat it dry before frying or it steams instead of crisping

kaldi coffee farm is hit or miss but their smoked bacon from denmark shows up pretty regular, the 200g pack runs about 600 yen. what actually works better for me is asking the butcher counter at peacock or life to slice the block bacon thick, like 5mm, they do it for free and it crisps way better than the pre-packed stuff. also fwiw cheap bacon crisps faster, the fatty supermarket kind at 300 yen a pack works fine if u cook it from cold in a dry pan and pour off the fat as it renders.

tbh the gyomu super store brand bacon is surprisingly decent for crisping up, its not thick cut but if you cook it low and slow it gets pretty crunchy. the key is the dry cure vs wet cure thing, wet cure steams. also check hanamasa if you have one nearby, they sell big packs of american style bacon thats actually smoked and firm.
