New Nakano Tipness?

Of course I can see pricing and overall facilities on the website, but I'm just wondering if anyone has any specific comments about the new site after they moved, or about Tipness in general since it's been such a long time.

There is an Anytime fitness about 30 seconds from my apartment, but I enjoy classes and having a spa (lol) in addition to working out on machines and free weights. I don't really care about the pool except maybe for aquatic classes

oh man, 25 years is a lifetime in gym years. the new Nakano Tipness is actually pretty solid, way better than the old cramped spot. the spa area is legit for a Japanese chain gym, they got a proper sauna and the jets actually work, not just a lukewarm puddle.

daytime membership is the smart play for retirees, it's like half the price of full and the crowd is mostly other older folks plus a few moms, so no one's hogging the squat racks. the class schedule during the day is decent too, lots of yoga and aqua stuff, but you gotta book early for the popular ones, they fill up fast.

one thing that surprised me is the locker room gets packed around 11am on weekdays, seems like everyone had the same idea. if you can, go right when they open or after 2pm, way more chill. also the machines are newer than most Tipness branches, they clearly put money into this location.

ngl the daytime pass is the move, i've been doing it since i hit 60 and it's way less crowded than the old place. the aqua classes are solid but honestly the real gem is the changing room, they got these heated floors that feel amazing after a workout.

one tip though, don't bother with the lockers near the entrance, they're tiny and always jammed. go to the back ones by the spa, bigger and quieter. also the front desk staff are pretty chill if you ask for a trial day, they gave me a free pass before i signed up

Anyone know if they still do the pour over set before 9? I usually just grab a can from the conbini on the corner instead.

The pour over set is still on before 9, though I'd skip the conbini can and get a drip at Kissa Maruyama on the back street instead.

If the line's already round the corner, there's a tiny standing bar two blocks toward the station doing 300 yen hand drips from 6:30. Tbh I prefer it anyway, quieter and the owner roasts his own beans. Weekends I'm in and out before Daybreak even opens.

That standing bar must be Tachinomi Kofe, the owner's beans are Ethiopian mostly and he closes at 10 sharp so don't roll in late.

honestly 7am is still late for me, i'm usually out by 5:30 and the only thing open is Komeda's, which is fine if u just want a strong kohi and a seat. there's also a gas station vending machine near the intersection that does hot canned coffee for 120 yen, sounds grim but it hits at that hour.
