I know I could put my pullup-bar workouts on a single day and go find an outdoor facility but you know I don't like relying on it not raining or risk passing out in 40+ degrees summer lol.

So anyone know some good gyms with a decent pullup bar? Ideally close to Shinjuku.

You could try the Joyfit at Shinjuku Gyoenmae. They have a separate calisthenics zone with a thick pullup bar and a parallel bar setup, and the monthly fee is around 7,000 yen, which is cheaper than Gold's. The downside is it's a 24-hour chain so the cleaning schedule can be hit or miss, but I've never had to wait for the pullup bar there even during evening hours. It's a 3-minute walk from the station exit on the Marunouchi line.

gold's shinjuku is solid but honestly check out anytime fitness in yotsuya, it's a 10 min walk from shinjuku gyoenmae station. they've got a proper pullup bar in the back corner plus a separate lat pulldown if u need it. way less crowded than gold's during lunch rush too

or if u don't mind a short train ride, tipness in takadanobaba has a whole calisthenics area with parallel bars and rings too. it's like 5 mins from the station on the tozai line. the monthly fee is cheaper than gold's but the machine selection is smaller

if you're near shinjuku station's west side, the anytime fitness inside the odakyu halc building has a surprisingly good setup. it's on the 8th floor and they've got a thick pullup bar plus a separate dip station, not the most hardcore but it's never packed at 7am. i'd skip their shinjuku-sanchome location though, that one's always cramped

also worth mentioning the tokyo metropolitan gym in shinjuku, it's under 500 yen per visit and they have a proper outdoor pullup bar area that's covered so rain's not an issue. the indoor section has a few bars too but the outdoor one is better for actual muscle-ups if that's ur thing. closes at 9pm on weekdays

if u have a costco membership the kirkland thick cut is the move, 4 packs of 500g for around 2500 yen and it crisps up proper in a cold pan. for smaller runs, precce in azabudai hills & the basement at isetan shinjuku both carry imported US & danish brands in the chilled case, just read the label for "thick cut" or "smoked" and not "loin". also worth knowing japanese bacon is often wet-cured so pat it dry before frying or it steams instead of crisping

kaldi coffee farm is hit or miss but their smoked bacon from denmark shows up pretty regular, the 200g pack runs about 600 yen. what actually works better for me is asking the butcher counter at peacock or life to slice the block bacon thick, like 5mm, they do it for free and it crisps way better than the pre-packed stuff. also fwiw cheap bacon crisps faster, the fatty supermarket kind at 300 yen a pack works fine if u cook it from cold in a dry pan and pour off the fat as it renders.

tbh the gyomu super store brand bacon is surprisingly decent for crisping up, its not thick cut but if you cook it low and slow it gets pretty crunchy. the key is the dry cure vs wet cure thing, wet cure steams. also check hanamasa if you have one nearby, they sell big packs of american style bacon thats actually smoked and firm.
