Anyone feel the earthquakes? It felt as if it was on/off for about an hour

or am I having a small stroke? or am I having a small stroke?

nah you're fine, that on/off thing is pretty common with these. the shaking comes in waves because the p-waves and s-waves hit at different times, plus the building you're in resonates differently each time. i was in meguro and my place did the same slow sway then stop thing for like 20 minutes

tbh the aftershocks from chiba tend to be kinda drawn out like that, they ping around the plate boundary and keep hitting us at weird intervals. if you're really worried the yurekuru call app gives you a heads up a few seconds before each one hits, helps with the "is this real" feeling

Felt it in Shinjuku, the building I'm in swayed a bit around 9:30. Checked the JMA map and it looks like a couple of moderate ones hit Chiba prefecture, so nothing to worry about on our end. The on/off feeling is pretty normal with aftershocks spaced a few minutes apart.

yeah felt it in shibuya, my cat was not having it. the on/off thing is just how the energy travels through the ground, different buildings and floors catch different parts of the wave. if you're in a taller building you'll feel it way more drawn out than someone on ground level

fwiw the JMA has a "felt earthquake" map on their site that updates live, you can see exactly which areas got hit and how strong. helps with the sanity check when you're not sure if you imagined it. also if you're new to tokyo this is pretty mild, we get these every couple weeks from chiba or fukushima

Best disco nights at Strobe in Tokyo 2026

I'm in Tokyo for a week in March 2026 and Strobe keeps coming up when I look for a proper disco night. What nights there are worth going to, and is it more of a late spot or does it get going earlier? saturdays are the one, but nothing happens before midnight tbh, last train crowd rolls in around 12:30 and it runs till first train from shibuya

yeah that 12:30 wave is real, the last train from shibuya dumps everyone right there. only thing id add is fridays can be decent too but its hit or miss depending on who's spinning

fridays hinge on the guest dj honestly, check the flyer first or u might walk into a wedding reception vibe

also check who's spinning, some sat lineups are weak
