I don't really have plans to take it back because after japan I'm doing some traveling around. I was wonder if anyone has any idea where I can sell my guitar after my visa expires. It's a decent fender offset (if that matters to the market)

I though about buying one while there, but I have this extra one i don't use at home.

Thanks so much

ngl if you're near shinjuku or shibuya, check out the guitar shops in the backstreets around yoyogi. there's a few smaller places that'll give you a better deal than hard off since they know fenders move quick. just expect to show your passport and fill out a quick form for the police registry thing

if you're in a rush near the end of your visa, book off in akihabara also buys gear but they're way pickier about condition. i sold a jazzmaster there for 25k yen but it had a scratch on the pickguard so ymmv. bring your own strap and case if you have em, theyll ask

Hard Off is the easiest option but you'll get maybe 60% of what it's worth. If you have time, list it on Jimoty or Craigslist Tokyo. Jimoty is more popular with locals and you can post in English. A Fender offset will move fast at the right price, maybe 30-40k yen depending on the model. Just meet at a station with a police box nearby, that's pretty standard here for cash sales.

honestly just hit up hard off or one of the 2nd hand chains in ochanomizu, they'll buy almost anything and the price is fair enough. if you're near shimokitazawa there's a few smaller shops that are a bit more chill about haggling. just bring a cable and your passport, they'll need to copy it for the sale

if u have a costco membership the kirkland thick cut is the move, 4 packs of 500g for around 2500 yen and it crisps up proper in a cold pan. for smaller runs, precce in azabudai hills & the basement at isetan shinjuku both carry imported US & danish brands in the chilled case, just read the label for "thick cut" or "smoked" and not "loin". also worth knowing japanese bacon is often wet-cured so pat it dry before frying or it steams instead of crisping

kaldi coffee farm is hit or miss but their smoked bacon from denmark shows up pretty regular, the 200g pack runs about 600 yen. what actually works better for me is asking the butcher counter at peacock or life to slice the block bacon thick, like 5mm, they do it for free and it crisps way better than the pre-packed stuff. also fwiw cheap bacon crisps faster, the fatty supermarket kind at 300 yen a pack works fine if u cook it from cold in a dry pan and pour off the fat as it renders.

tbh the gyomu super store brand bacon is surprisingly decent for crisping up, its not thick cut but if you cook it low and slow it gets pretty crunchy. the key is the dry cure vs wet cure thing, wet cure steams. also check hanamasa if you have one nearby, they sell big packs of american style bacon thats actually smoked and firm.
