I want to sell my handmade art in Japan like yk in those cubbies things I see such as the one in Sunshine City. The only thing is, I dont know how or if there are restrictions on what i can sell? How much to pay, if part of what I make will go to the shop, etc. I like making polymer phone charms and jewelry. Like custom miffies but It might get copyrighted? If anyone has any knowledge of this lmk thanks! Im tryna make extra money since I usually sell in the US but Japan has stopped SAL shipping which is the cheapest :,)

sunshine city is actually kinda pricey for what u get, i'd start smaller. look at ギャラリー rental boxes inside local shotengai or station buildings like 中野サンモール or the ones in 下北沢, some run 1500 to 3000 yen a month and the foot traffic is more your crowd anyway. commission varies wildly, some take 30% some take nothing and just charge rent so ask upfront.

for the miffy thing, yeah that's a hard no basically. shops won't touch it and mercis sends letters. but here's the angle most ppl miss, you can make your own original character and it actually sells better in those boxes cuz it's one of a kind. polymer charms do well at 500 to 1500 yen range.

one more thing, if ur a student check if ur uni has a 生協 or festival market, basically free to sell and good for testing what moves before u commit to a monthly box

The cubbies you're thinking of are called "gallery" spaces or 委託販売 (consignment) boxes, and Sunshine City's are run by a company called Art Space. Rates there are around 3,000 to 8,000 yen per box per month depending on size and location, and the shop typically takes 20 to 30 percent commission on top. For handmade goods you usually need to register as a sole proprietor (個人事業主) if you're earning consistently, though a lot of students just stay under the radar for small volumes.

On the Miffy side, that's a real problem. Sanrio and Mercis actively police their characters, and consignment shops will refuse obvious trademark or copyright infringements because they're the ones who get the cease and desist. Custom generic phone charms and original polymer jewelry sell fine in those boxes, but anything recognizably Miffy, Hello Kitty, or similar gets pulled fast. Plenty of makers do original cute animals instead and do okay.

For shipping, look into small packet or Yamato's international options if you're also selling back to the US, since SAL is gone for good.

yoyogi park market is every other saturday btw not every week, and you apply through the 主催 group a month ahead, spots fill fast in spring. for polymer specifically, avoid boxes with glass fronts in summer, tokyo humidity fogs them up & your charms look dull in photos, open shelves are better. also your dorm might have a 自治会 that runs a flea market, i sold ceramics at mine in setagaya for basically nada and made 12k yen in one afternoon

Where can I find crispy, pan-fried bacon similar to a certain international style?

if u have a costco membership the kirkland thick cut is the move, 4 packs of 500g for around 2500 yen and it crisps up proper in a cold pan. for smaller runs, precce in azabudai hills & the basement at isetan shinjuku both carry imported US & danish brands in the chilled case, just read the label for "thick cut" or "smoked" and not "loin". also worth knowing japanese bacon is often wet-cured so pat it dry before frying or it steams instead of crisping

kaldi coffee farm is hit or miss but their smoked bacon from denmark shows up pretty regular, the 200g pack runs about 600 yen. what actually works better for me is asking the butcher counter at peacock or life to slice the block bacon thick, like 5mm, they do it for free and it crisps way better than the pre-packed stuff. also fwiw cheap bacon crisps faster, the fatty supermarket kind at 300 yen a pack works fine if u cook it from cold in a dry pan and pour off the fat as it renders.

tbh the gyomu super store brand bacon is surprisingly decent for crisping up, its not thick cut but if you cook it low and slow it gets pretty crunchy. the key is the dry cure vs wet cure thing, wet cure steams. also check hanamasa if you have one nearby, they sell big packs of american style bacon thats actually smoked and firm.
