AnimeJapan tomorrow - best time to arrive?

Going for the first time and super excited! Wondering if I should be there as it opens or attend later after the initial rush dies down. Any advice is appreciated! ngl if you're going for the experience and not just merch, show up around 3pm. the afternoon crowd thins out after the lottery winners and early birds leave, and you can actually breathe in the exhibition halls. plus the cosplayers are usually more settled by then and happy to chat for photos near the outdoor area by the west entrance

also the food trucks near the water side gate have shorter lines later in the day, the takoyaki spot there is solid and you can eat it while watching the ferris wheel across the canal

If you arent chasing limited figures or event exclusives, try arriving around 1 or 2pm. The lines at the main gates and popular booths like the Aniplex or Bandai areas get much shorter after lunch, and you can actually move around without feeling like a sardine. The konbini near Kokusai-Tenjijo Station gets packed in the morning, so grab an onigiri at a FamilyMart a stop or two before if you want a quick bite. The afternoon crowd also tends to be calmer for the smaller indie booths, which is where I found some cool art prints last year.

honestly if you're after exclusive merch or limited stuff you gotta be there at opening, lines form early and some booths run out fast. but if you just wanna wander and soak it all in, rolling in around 11 or 12 is way more chill, the initial wave dies down after an hour or two.

the big stages and special events usually have timed entry too, so check the schedule beforehand or you'll waste time queuing for nothing. if you're not pressed for specific items, i'd say skip the morning chaos and grab a coffee near Tokyo Big Sight first, there's a decent konbini spot right by the station.

Where can I find crispy, pan-fried bacon similar to a certain international style?

if u have a costco membership the kirkland thick cut is the move, 4 packs of 500g for around 2500 yen and it crisps up proper in a cold pan. for smaller runs, precce in azabudai hills & the basement at isetan shinjuku both carry imported US & danish brands in the chilled case, just read the label for "thick cut" or "smoked" and not "loin". also worth knowing japanese bacon is often wet-cured so pat it dry before frying or it steams instead of crisping

kaldi coffee farm is hit or miss but their smoked bacon from denmark shows up pretty regular, the 200g pack runs about 600 yen. what actually works better for me is asking the butcher counter at peacock or life to slice the block bacon thick, like 5mm, they do it for free and it crisps way better than the pre-packed stuff. also fwiw cheap bacon crisps faster, the fatty supermarket kind at 300 yen a pack works fine if u cook it from cold in a dry pan and pour off the fat as it renders.

tbh the gyomu super store brand bacon is surprisingly decent for crisping up, its not thick cut but if you cook it low and slow it gets pretty crunchy. the key is the dry cure vs wet cure thing, wet cure steams. also check hanamasa if you have one nearby, they sell big packs of american style bacon thats actually smoked and firm.
