Anyone been to the new immersive fort Tokyo yet?

Trying to determine if it's worth spending the extra 7000 yen on the Edo Oiran Kitan. It's such an up charge that it hardly seems worth it, being the price of an entire 1-day ticket

honestly i went last month and the main attractions are pretty solid for the base price. the ninja and shinobi areas are actually fun even if u dont speak japanese. but yeah the 7000 yen upcharge for Edo Oiran Kitan is steep af. i'd skip it unless you're really into historical cosplay or theater performances. for that money you could do a whole day at teamLab Planets plus lunch in Odaiba

yeah i went last month with a friend who was visiting. the base ticket is fine but tbh the whole place has that "designed for instagram" vibe that gets old fast. the ninja area is the best part but it's kinda short

skip the oiran upgrade unless you're a cosplayer or really into period drama. 7000 yen gets you a kaiseki lunch at a proper ryotei in asakusa instead, which is a way better use of money imo

one thing nobody mentions is the audio guide situation. the english one is kinda robotic and misses a lot of context. if you read japanese just use the japanese one or skip it entirely and wander

honestly i went last month and the base experience is decent for the price but the oiran thing is a hard pass imo. the 7000 yen gets you like a 20 min thing where you watch a performer do a dance in a kimono and you get a little omiyage bag. not worth it when you could spend that on a proper kaiseki lunch in tsukiji instead. the projection mapping rooms are the best part of the main ticket anyway

Where can I find crispy, pan-fried bacon similar to a certain international style?

While the local bacon works well in many recipes, I specifically want the crispy type. Where might I find this style of bacon?

if u have a costco membership the kirkland thick cut is the move, 4 packs of 500g for around 2500 yen and it crisps up proper in a cold pan. for smaller runs, precce in azabudai hills & the basement at isetan shinjuku both carry imported US & danish brands in the chilled case, just read the label for "thick cut" or "smoked" and not "loin". also worth knowing japanese bacon is often wet-cured so pat it dry before frying or it steams instead of crisping

kaldi coffee farm is hit or miss but their smoked bacon from denmark shows up pretty regular, the 200g pack runs about 600 yen. what actually works better for me is asking the butcher counter at peacock or life to slice the block bacon thick, like 5mm, they do it for free and it crisps way better than the pre-packed stuff. also fwiw cheap bacon crisps faster, the fatty supermarket kind at 300 yen a pack works fine if u cook it from cold in a dry pan and pour off the fat as it renders.

tbh the gyomu super store brand bacon is surprisingly decent for crisping up, its not thick cut but if you cook it low and slow it gets pretty crunchy. the key is the dry cure vs wet cure thing, wet cure steams. also check hanamasa if you have one nearby, they sell big packs of american style bacon thats actually smoked and firm.
