Does it cause an issue if you go to city hall after 2 weeks have passed of you moving out?

I didnt get the time with my hectic work schedule and already 2 weeks have passed. Now I am just anxious and honestly scared to face the Japanese officials at the city hall. totally get the anxiety but it's really not as strict as you think. i moved to setagaya last year and showed up like 3 weeks late, the guy just nodded and processed everything. they're used to it especially in central tokyo where everyone's swamped with work. just bring your old residence card and maybe a my number card if you have it, they might ask about the date difference but a simple "忙しかった" (busy) is all you need

honestly you'll be fine, just go as soon as you can. the staff at most ward offices in Tokyo have seen way worse delays - people showing up months later isn't unheard of. bring your old residence card and maybe a copy of your rental contract or utility bill showing when you actually moved out. they'll just ask why you're late, saying you were busy with work is totally normal, they won't give you a hard time about it. the 14-day window is more of a guideline than a hard deadline for most wards, especially Shinjuku or Shibuya where everyone's busy

yeah it's fine, i showed up almost a month late once and they didn't even blink. just say you were busy with work, they hear that all the time in Tokyo. bring your old address proof just in case but honestly they prob won't ask for it

Tokyo rent 2026: what are you actually paying?

I keep hearing rent has jumped again in 2026, but I want real numbers. Is a decent 1LDK still around 120,000 yen in places like Setagaya or Nakano, or has it crept closer to 150,000? Is a decent 1LDK still around 120,000 yen in places like Setagaya or Nakano, or has it crept closer to 150,000? And which areas near good bakeries like Levain are still worth the commute?

Sangenjaya, 138,000 for a 1LDK.
