Is the Minamizono pedestrian bridge worth a detour in 2026?
five min stop, sunset from the west end
yeah sunset is the move, but check which side the light actually hits first. i got that wrong and ended up shooting into it
Bring a zoom lens, the bridge is far from the skyline.
west end is right, east side gets blocked by the apartment blocks
Right, the west end clears the Kami-Shinjo blocks too.
Timing matters more than the spot, I'd aim for right before the streetlights flicker on. Weekday evenings are way calmer than weekends.
Combine it with Nakazaki-cho, ten minutes on foot.
Do it via Tenjinbashisuji, quieter than the main road.
the bridge itself is maybe 30 seconds of walking tbh. what makes it worth it is the view down the Yodo river at dusk when the lights come on, kind of a quiet industrial mood. dont go out of ur way just for it but if ur already in the area around Umeda its a decent wander
agreed, though the river there is actually the Yodogawa proper
Shimada Ruins Osaka 2026 visit and site access
The site itself is mostly an excavated plot with a small reconstructed pit dwelling, so what you actually see depends on whether a digging season is running. Weekday visits outside excavation periods often just mean looking at fenced ground. Ask whoever you contact whether 2026 has a survey scheduled and whether volunteers are taken on, that's usually the more interesting way in than a plain viewing permit.
weekday mornings best, staff usually on site then
morning slots thin out after 10, aim for 9ish
Shimada Jomon Ruins, contact Osaka City Board of Education.
worth adding that the bunkazai section handles permits, so ask for the bunkazai tantō when u call
Get the tantō's direct extension, the switchboard won't transfer.
heads up they moved the bunkazai desk to the nakanoshima office a few yrs back so call before u trek out there
Good call, though the bunkazai tantō at Nakanoshima covers the whole city, so ask them to confirm the plot's still under their jurisdiction.
yep second this, though their english line is hit or miss
Ask for the bunkacho not the general desk, quicker.
their bunkacho division publishes an annual excavation schedule pdf that lists whether the plot has a 2026 survey before u bother calling
