Getting to 上津島のクスノキ in Osaka 2026
The kusunoki at 上津島 is an open roadside spot by the shrine, no booking needed; just take the Hankyu from Umeda to 上津島駅.
Get off at 上津島駅 and it's a short walk toward the shrine, maybe 5 min, no ticket or gate anywhere
Worth noting the Hankyu train from Umeda is a local, so it stops a fair bit and takes maybe 20 minutes.
Takadono Station on the Midosuji line is closer if you're coming from that side.
True, though from Takadono you're walking back across the Yodo and it's a solid 15 min, so factor that in.
Only if you cut through the residential backstreets, otherwise the signed route loops you well past 15 minutes.
Not really closer in practice since you'd still cross the river bridge on foot, so Hankyu from Umeda stays simpler.
Right, though the tree sits a good 10 minutes on foot from the station, so budget a bit more than you'd think.
yeah no gates at all, but snap a photo of the tree plaque since there's zero signage explaining it in english
agree, and weekends it's basically empty
Is the Minamizono pedestrian bridge worth a detour in 2026?
Honestly it's a five minute photo stop, not a detour, and late afternoon light from the west is when teh bridge looks best.
Golden hour, roughly 4:30pm in March.
agreed, Nakanoshima skyline frames it from the east side
Yeah, weekday mornings are quieter if you want it empty.
decent spot for a quick phone pic around 5ish
One thing people miss is the elevated walkway connects straight to the river terrace, so you can walk on toward Tenmabashi instead of backtracking.
true about the west light, but the bridge faces the Oebashi canal so you get reflections doubling the shot after rain. bring a wider lens than you think, the span is longer than it looks in photos.
five min is about right but dont box urself in on the west light. the osaka amenity park side gives u a cleaner angle in the morning if u want it empty, ngl i'd pair it with a coffee stop rather than treating it as the destination
Fair call on the five minutes, though I'd go earlier in the day if you want the canal side without crowds blocking the shot.
It's a bridge, not a sight, so skip the detour unless you're already walking the Yodo riverbank.
