How do I get to the Kusu tree in Kamitsushima?
Kamitsushima is actually in Nagasaki Prefecture, not near Osaka, so you're looking at a flight or shinkansen plus ferry, which is a serious trek for one tree.
yeah and the ferry from Tabira Port in Hirado runs only a few times a day, so check the schedule before you commit
true, and the kusunoki itself sits up a hill past the shrine, so add a sweaty walk to whatever travel time u calculated.
Right, the tree is on the far side of the island too, so even after you land it's a bus and a walk. Worth knowing the shrine is the real draw and the kusunoki is just behind it.
ferry alone is like 4 hours or something
Worth it only if you're already on Tsushima.
honestly for a solo trip id skip it unless ur already doing a kyushu loop, the logistics eat two days minimum
the tree is on Tsushima island so its actually a jetfoil from Fukuoka or a flight to Tsushima Airport, then a bus. two days is optimistic if ur fitting it around an Osaka trip. id save it for when ur doing Kyushu properly
Two days is if the jetfoil isn't cancelled.
Agreed, and the awkward bit is that even if you're on that island already, the bus out there runs rarely enough that you can lose half a day just waiting. For a solo traveler that's a lot of dead time for one tree.
Shimada Ruins Osaka 2026: entry fee for foreign visitors?
Same rate, no foreign surcharge.
yeah thats right, tho i think the standard adult ticket runs around 300 yen so budget for that.
300 yen sounds about right but the site itself is free to wander, so you're really paying for the museum bit
tbh the museum bit is the only part worth paying for anyway, the free ruins walk is pretty sparse
agreed, the 300 yen adult rate applies to everyone including foreign visitors, no separate pricing at the gate.
Makes sense, though I'd still check the official site closer to 2026 since rates get revised.
yep no surcharge, but double check the fee before u go since prices change
true, though the ruins themselves are free to walk
pretty sure the 300 yen covers the museum part anyway so no extra for foreigners
Correct, the 300 yen is flat across the board.
