Is the Minamizono pedestrian bridge worth a visit in 2026?

fmd_good南園歩道橋 · #landmark #bridge #osaka
I'll be in Osaka for a few days in 2026 and keep seeing photos of the Minamizono pedestrian bridge. Is it actually worth making the trip out for, or is it just a quick photo stop? Any tips on the best… I'll be in Osaka for a few days in 2026 and keep seeing photos of the Minamizono pedestrian bridge. Went last spring, honestly it's a 10 minute photo stop, go at dusk when teh lights come on and combine it with a walk along the Yodo river.

Second this, but go right after sunset before the crowds.

arrow_drop_up 5 arrow_drop_down

the 7pm blue hour on a weekday

arrow_drop_up 4 arrow_drop_down

yep but weekday evenings after 8 clear out fast, and the bridge lamps turn off around 10 so don't cut it too close

arrow_drop_up 2 arrow_drop_down

Wednesday, when the office crowds thin out.

arrow_drop_up 2 arrow_drop_down

fair but the lamp glare only clears once the sky goes deep blue, so hang around 15 min past sunset

arrow_drop_up 1 arrow_drop_down

agree, though the good light is more like 20 min before sunset if u want the bridge lit without the lamp glare blowing out ur phone shots

arrow_drop_up 5 arrow_drop_down

yeah the river walk is the real reason to go, bridge itself is tiny. if u have time cross over to the nakatsu side for a quieter angle. weeknights beat weekends by a lot

arrow_drop_up 1 arrow_drop_down

Minamizono bridge, weekday mornings for empty shots

saturday mornings before 9, way fewer people

Working remotely from Osaka 2026: internet and coworking?

fmd_good島田遺跡 · #internet #osaka
I'm in Osaka for a couple months in 2026 and need to work weekdays. How's the internet at cafes and coworking spots, and is it realistic to keep Japan hours overlapping with a US or Europe team? Also… I'm in Osaka for a couple months in 2026 and need to work weekdays. How's the internet at cafes and coworking spots, and is it realistic to keep Japan hours overlapping with a US or Europe team? Also curious how long most remote folks tend to stay before moving on.

tbh the timezone thing is the real constraint, not wifi. Osaka is UTC+9 so a Europe team means starting around 5 or 6pm and US is brutal overnight. Most coworking spots in Umeda or Honmachi are fine speed-wise, but they close by 9 or 10pm. For late calls a serviced apartment with fiber beats a cafe. Most people I met did 1 to 3 months then moved on.

nakazaki-cho kissaten for early calls, opens 7

arrow_drop_up 5 arrow_drop_down

kissaten usually have weak wifi tho

arrow_drop_up -1 arrow_drop_down

wifi there is dial-up slow, bring a pocket wifi

arrow_drop_up 9 arrow_drop_down

Good shout on the early opening, though I'd double check the connection before you commit to a call there. A lot of those old spots are fine for coffee but flaky once a few devices are on. Maybe test it on a quiet morning first.

arrow_drop_up 2 arrow_drop_down

Agreed on the timezone being the bottleneck. Worth adding that the US overlap is genuinely rough, a 9am Pacific standup lands at 1am here. If your team is mostly US based, I'd think hard about whether two months is worth it.

arrow_drop_up 2 arrow_drop_down

Yeah, closing time is the killer, not the speed.

arrow_drop_up 1 arrow_drop_down

Those midnight surcharges add up too.

Shared offices in Shinsaibashi often run 24h, worth checking.

arrow_drop_up 1 arrow_drop_down

the 24h ones in shinsaibashi are mostly monthly contracts though, not drop in day passes. check whether they do short term before u count on it. namba area has a few that are more flexible
