Which permit do I file for, and what documents trip people up the most? I'll be near Kuzunoki in Kozushima so any advice on the immigration office closest to that area would help too.

Kuzunoki's nowhere near Kozushima. Osaka or Tokyo?

just fwiw the hommachi office is the Osaka Regional Immigration Bureau, book online before you go or you'll wait hours.

arrow_drop_up 2 arrow_drop_down

yeah kozushima is an island off Kita-ku, nothing near kuzunoki. Osaka has kuzunoha in nishiyodogawa if thats what they meant. either way the immigration office is prob the one in hommachi.

Working remotely from Osaka 2026: internet and coworking?

fmd_good島田遺跡 · #internet #osaka
I'm in Osaka for a couple months in 2026 and need to work weekdays. How's the internet at cafes and coworking spots, and is it realistic to keep Japan hours overlapping with a US or Europe team? Also… I'm in Osaka for a couple months in 2026 and need to work weekdays. tbh the timezone thing is the real constraint, not wifi. Osaka is UTC+9 so a Europe team means starting around 5 or 6pm and US is brutal overnight. Most coworking spots in Umeda or Honmachi are fine speed-wise, but they close by 9 or 10pm. For late calls a serviced apartment with fiber beats a cafe. Most people I met did 1 to 3 months then moved on.

nakazaki-cho kissaten for early calls, opens 7

kissaten usually have weak wifi tho

Agreed on the timezone being the bottleneck. Worth adding that the US overlap is genuinely rough, a 9am Pacific standup lands at 1am here. If your team is mostly US based, I'd think hard about whether two months is worth it.

Yeah, closing time is the killer, not the speed.

Those midnight surcharges add up too.
