The building on Via del Collegio Romano is genuinely old, the site goes back to the 1500s when the Jesuits ran the Roman College there, so the "ancient architecture" part isn't hype. As for secret passages, I've been inside for a few events over the years and there are definitely odd stairwells and a couple of sealed-off corridors that predate the current school layout, but nothing I'd call a hidden room in the Dan Brown sense. The headmaster ghost story is a local staple, usually told about a 19th century director, and it tends to resurface every time a student fails Latin. If you get a chance, have a look at the courtyard and the old library ceiling, that's the real payoff, not the ghost.
honestly the ghost thing is fun but wot u should actually check is the Aula Magna ceiling, its got these frescoes from the old Jesuit college days that most people walk right past. also fwiw the building sits basically on top of what used to be part of the Collegio Romano complex so the "secret passage" rumors prob come from old service corridors connecting to the church next door. been to a couple conferences there myself and yeah some of those back stairwells feel creepy but its just damp stone, not a headmaster.
if you're going for a conference the entrance you want is on Via del Caravita, not the main one people assume. that side has the older porta and you walk straight into the piano nobile where the good rooms are. as for the ghost, every liceo classico in Rome has a dead headmaster story, its basically a genre. the real oddity is the crypt-ish basement level under the gym, half bricked up, that's where the passage rumors come from.

tbh duty free at Riga is only worth it if you're buying cartons, single packs at the airport arent that much cheaper than teh tabaccai in Rome. also remember you can only bring a limited amount into the EU anyway so stockpiling has its limits
Chesterfield Blue usually runs around 5.50 to 6 euros a pack in Rome these days, though tabaccai prices are fixed by the state so it won't vary much shop to shop. Riga is generally cheaper for cigarettes but your layover time matters, if it's tight you might not have time to clear security and find a shop.
LM Blue in Rome is roughly the same ballpark, around 5.50 to 6 euros. One thing to keep in mind at Riga airport, the duty free selection isn't always great for specific brands like these, so if you're set on LM or Chesterfield you might strike out. I'd check what the actual duty free has before counting on it.
