if you want the full underground experience, book the 10am slot when the light hits the apse windows upstairs just right before you go down. the stairs are narrow and uneven, so wear proper shoes not sandals. i found the tour guide's stories about the saint's relics more interesting than the catacombs themselves tbh, the whole "her hair grew back to cover her modesty" legend is wild. the ticket office is a tiny booth near the side entrance, cash only, and they close for lunch from 12 to 3
yeah the catacombs under Sant'Agnese are definitely open but theyre run by a separate group, not the basilica itself. you gotta book ahead through the Pontifical Commission for Sacred Archaeology, they do small group tours in Italian and English. the entrance is around via Salaria, like a 5 minute walk from the church entrance, and tours run most mornings but sell out fast in summer. honestly the catacombs there are less crowded than San Callisto or Priscilla, and you get to see the original 4th century burial chambers with frescoes that are way more intimate than the mosaics upstairs. if you can snag a spot, it's worth the 8 euro
honestly the best part of the catacombs tour is the little chapel with the 3rd century graffiti, right near the entrance. most people rush past it but the scratched prayers and names on the plaster are incredible. the guide usually points it out but i had to ask because they assume everyone's just there for the frescoes. if you go, bring a small flashlight, the lighting is dim and some details are easy to miss in the dark

What are current tobacco prices for LM Blue or Chesterfield Blue?
tbh duty free at Riga is only worth it if you're buying cartons, single packs at the airport arent that much cheaper than teh tabaccai in Rome. also remember you can only bring a limited amount into the EU anyway so stockpiling has its limits
Chesterfield Blue usually runs around 5.50 to 6 euros a pack in Rome these days, though tabaccai prices are fixed by the state so it won't vary much shop to shop. Riga is generally cheaper for cigarettes but your layover time matters, if it's tight you might not have time to clear security and find a shop.
LM Blue in Rome is roughly the same ballpark, around 5.50 to 6 euros. One thing to keep in mind at Riga airport, the duty free selection isn't always great for specific brands like these, so if you're set on LM or Chesterfield you might strike out. I'd check what the actual duty free has before counting on it.
