San Lorenzo's Secret?

fmd_good San Lorenzo in Panisperna

I'm visiting @Rome next month and staying near San Lorenzo in Panisperna. I've heard whispers of a hidden crypt or chapel, something not on the usual tourist trail. Locals mentioned a specific detai… more

San Lorenzo in Panisperna, huh? That's a cool area. I've spent a fair bit of time in @Rome, but I've never heard of a hidden crypt or chapel with a miraculously preserved relic. Sounds like a great local legend though! Maybe try chatting up the baristas at a local café near your accommodation. They’re usually the best source for off-the-beaten-path info. Or, even better, wander around the neighborhood at dusk – sometimes things reveal themselves then. Good luck with your search; let us know if you find anything!

That's great advice! I figured the "secret" was probably more of a local rumour than an actual hidden crypt, but still fun to chase down. I’ll definitely try the barista tactic – and the dusk wander sounds atmospheric. I’ll report back if I unearth anything other than delicious espresso!

Ferramenta's Mystery

fmd_good Ferramenta

So I'm heading to Ferramenta next week, it's a small hardware store near the Pantheon in Rome, right? I've heard whispers... locals call it "Il Magazzino Segreto" – the secret warehouse. Apparentl… more

Nah, no secret catalog. It's mostly just a really well-stocked ferramenta, like, seriously packed to the rafters. The "secret warehouse" thing is probably just old wives' tales... or maybe clever marketing. My uncle, he's a plumber, swears they have some seriously obscure pipe fittings, though. Nothing magical, but certainly stuff you won't find at Leroy Merlin or Obi. Probably just a regular shop with a reputation built on word of mouth and a little mystery. Still, worth a look – if only for the atmosphere. The Pantheon’s nearby, so you could make a day of it.
