La Piadineria Question

My question is: what's the absolute best, most authentic, least tourist-trappy piadina filling they offer? I want something truly Roman, something a local would recommend. I'm planning on making it my first meal when I arrive, so no messing around. I've got a whole week to explore Rome's food scene, but this is kicking it all off!

ngl the mortadella and squacquerone is solid but if you want something that actually tastes like a roman summer afternoon go for the crudo with figs and gorgonzola. it's seasonal, the figs are usually local if they're in season, and the sweetness cuts through the salty ham in a way that feels like you're eating on a terrace near trastevere. plus it's not on every tourist's radar so you won't feel like u just ordered off a menu designed for instagram.

the grilled vegetable piadina is underrated tbh. they roast eggplant and zucchini right there, the oil's got some rosemary in it, and it's the kind of thing you'd grab at a market stall not a sit-down spot. feels more real than any cold cut combo, and you won't be weighed down before you hit the cobblestones. pair it with a still water, not fizzy, that's how locals do it at lunch rush

Stracchino's right, but ask for it calda and add the rucola last so it doesn't wilt.

I have a layover in Riga before continuing my journey, and I'm wondering if it would be financially beneficial to purchase my tobacco there. Can anyone provide details on the prices?

tbh duty free at Riga is only worth it if you're buying cartons, single packs at the airport arent that much cheaper than teh tabaccai in Rome. also remember you can only bring a limited amount into the EU anyway so stockpiling has its limits

Chesterfield Blue usually runs around 5.50 to 6 euros a pack in Rome these days, though tabaccai prices are fixed by the state so it won't vary much shop to shop. Riga is generally cheaper for cigarettes but your layover time matters, if it's tight you might not have time to clear security and find a shop.

LM Blue in Rome is roughly the same ballpark, around 5.50 to 6 euros. One thing to keep in mind at Riga airport, the duty free selection isn't always great for specific brands like these, so if you're set on LM or Chesterfield you might strike out. I'd check what the actual duty free has before counting on it.
