🍜 Where to Start
Begin your culinary tour at Soto Betawi H. Husen, a legendary stall serving rich, creamy beef soup with offal and tender meat. Located at Jalan Raya Narogong, it opens from 7 AM to 4 PM, and a bowl costs around IDR 25,000 to IDR 35,000.

πŸ₯Ÿ Street Food Favorites
Don't miss Bakso Malang Karapitan at Jalan Ahmad Yani, where you can customize your meatball soup with wontons, tofu, and noodles for about IDR 20,000. For a sweet treat, try Es Pisang Ijo H. Udin at Jalan Raya Pekayon, a cold dessert of green banana wrapped in rice flour, served with coconut milk and syrup for IDR 15,000.

πŸ– Must-Try Local Dishes
Sate Padang Ajo Ramli at Jalan Raya Jatiwaringin offers tender beef satay with a thick, spicy yellow sauce, priced at IDR 30,000 for 10 sticks. Another iconic dish is Nasi Uduk Kebon Jeruk, a fragrant coconut rice served with fried chicken, tempeh, and sambal at Jalan Raya Kebon Jeruk, costing around IDR 25,000.

🏘️ Hidden Neighborhood Gems
Venture to Summarecon Bekasi for a cluster of trendy eateries like Warung Jadul, serving Indonesian comfort food in a vintage setting with mains from IDR 35,000. In Harapan Indah, try Seafood 99 for grilled fish and prawns at Jalan Harapan Indah Raya, with a meal for two averaging IDR 100,000.

πŸ’° Local Prices
Street food meals typically cost between IDR 15,000 and IDR 40,000, while sit-down restaurants range from IDR 50,000 to IDR 150,000 per person. Fine dining at places like The Hills Restaurant in Summarecon Bekasi can go up to IDR 300,000 per person for a full course.

πŸš— Getting Around
Use ride-hailing apps like Gojek or Grab to reach food spots easily, with short trips costing around IDR 15,000 to IDR 30,000. For a more local experience, hop on an angkot (public minibus) along routes like K01 or K02, which pass through major food areas for a flat fare of IDR 5,000.

πŸŒ™ Best Evening Spots
For night food crawling, head to Pasar Malam Summarecon Bekasi, open from 5 PM to 11 PM, offering sate, martabak, and grilled corn. Another lively spot is Jalan Raya Jatiwaringin, where street vendors set up from 6 PM, serving everything from nasi goreng to sop buntut.

fwiw the Bakso Malang Karapitan spot is solid but if you're around there anyway, try the siomay Bandung from the cart right outside the Indomaret on Jalan Ahmad Yani. It's like IDR 12K for a big portion and the peanut sauce is way better than most places. Also for the Es Pisang Ijo, the one at H. Udin is good but the version at Es Pisang Ijo Pak Haji near the Bekasi Timur train station has a thicker coconut milk and they add a bit of jackfruit, which makes it way better imo.

This is a solid list. I'd add that Soto Betawi H. Husen is worth the trip out to Narogong, but if you're closer to the city center, the Soto Betawi Bang Udin at Jalan KH. Noer Ali is nearly as good and open until 9 PM. Also, the Nasi Uduk Kebon Jeruk spot is famous for a reason, but the fried chicken there sells out fast, so try to go before 11 AM if you want the crispy thighs.

The guide nails the big names, but I'd argue the best soto betawi in Bekasi is actually Soto Betawi Bang Udin at Jalan KH. Noer Ali. The broth is a touch lighter than H. Husen's but has this incredible lemongrass kick that cuts through the richness, and they're open until 9 PM which helps.

For the evening spots, if you're at Pasar Malam Summarecon, skip the sate and go straight for the martabak from Martabak Boss. The man there knows his batter and the chocolate and cheese version is IDR 35,000, easily the best I've had around here. Also, the guide mentions The Hills for fine dining but for a proper splurge with a view, try D'Cost Seafood at Grand Metropolitan Mall instead. The grilled red snapper with Padang sauce is around IDR 80,000 per person and the ambiance beats most places in Summarecon.

Day trips from Bekasi?

I'm heading to Bekasi in about six months and want to plan some day trips. What are your favorite spots within a couple hours' drive? I'm heading to Bekasi in about six months and want to plan some day trips. What are your favorite spots within a couple hours' drive?

honestly if u've got a couple hours, head to puncak for the cooler air and tea plantations, it's about 2 hours depending on traffic. the drive up through cipanas is nice and there's a spot called telaga warna where the lake changes color, entrance is cheap like 15k rupiah. just go on a weekday or u'll be stuck in traffic forever

if u want something different, hit up the pantai indah kapuk area in north jakarta, about 1.5 hours from bekasi. there's a bunch of seafood restaurants right on the water, like bandar djakarta, where u pick ur own fish and they grill it. it's not a beach for swimming but the sunset views are solid and the vibe is chill for an afternoon

fwiw the manglayang mountains are pretty underrated, about 2 hours out near cileunyi. good hiking spot if u wanna escape the city heat, trails r mostly easy with some nice views of the tea fields
