Where to stay in Shimoga for a week?

I'm heading to Shimoga next month for a week and trying to figure out which neighborhood would be best. I'd like to be close to restaurants and easy bus access to Jog Falls. Any advice? if you're staying a full week, maybe split it up - a couple nights near the old bus stand area for easy jog falls access, then shift to a homestay near the tyavarekoppa lion safari or sakrebail elephant camp for a change of pace. those spots are about 20-30 mins from town but give u a real feel for the shimoga outskirts. the gajanur dam is also close by, good for a lazy evening walk. just check if the tourism lodge near the old bus stand has rooms, they sometimes run a direct jog falls bus at 6am

The area around Gandhi Nagar is worth considering too, it's a bit quieter than the city center but still has a handful of good South Indian restaurants like Hotel Mayura. The bus stand is about a 15-minute walk from there, and you can catch direct buses to Jog Falls around 6 or 7 AM. If you want to avoid the hassle of auto rickshaws each time, the hotel staff can usually help arrange transport to the bus stand.

for a week, stick around the balraj urs road or durgigudi area in the city center. loads of small eateries and bus stands nearby, and the bus to jog falls leaves from the main bus stand which is like 10 minutes away by auto. if you want a quieter vibe, the area near the new bus stand has some decent budget hotels but fewer food options. jog falls itself is about 2 hours by bus, so plan a full day trip and catch an early morning one
