try their bomboloni, usually still there around 11 but weekends vanish faster than weekdays

Go before 9am for the croissants at Crumb's Pali Hill outlet, and get the kouign-amann if it's still there.

The cinnamon knot, gone by 10.

Bharat on Lamington Road is a decent old-school bar, cheap drinks and no pretension, but it's a locals' peg-and-chakna spot rather than a night out.

Fair warning: the kitchen shuts early, so treat it as a drinks stop before 10pm rather than dinner.

Tuesdays they shut by 9:30.

True, and the last order for food is usually around 9:15, so don't bank on a late bite there.

Yeah the peg-and-chakna read is spot on. Only thing I'd add is the AC section upstairs is where you actually want to sit in summer, ground floor gets muggy by 8. For a proper night out most folks I know walk over to the Grant Road side instead.

Upstairs AC is the move, though the stairs are steep after a couple pegs.

the chakna spread is the real draw tbh

Agree, but the aunty uncle crowd owns the early evening

spot on about it not being a night out. only thing id say is the crowd shifts after 8, office folks from the Lamington Rd shops clear out and it gets quieter, which is honestly when i prefer it. cheap peg and some chakna with no one rushing u out.

old-school is right, but the pricing is the real story. peg of ordinary stuff still under a hundred bucks, which is why the shop guys from Lamington Road pack it out. don't expect craft anything tho.
