Bharat Restaurant and Bar: what's there now in 2026?

Has the building been redeveloped or is something else running there now? Also curious if the area still feels worth living in with all the changes around Grant Road station.

Last time I passed through, the corner near the old bar had become a mobile accessories shop and a small eatery, nothing fancy. Honestly the whole stretch around Novelty cinema and Minerva has that worn look now, though rent stays reasonable for the location. Fwiw I'd look at the lanes off Maulana Shaukat Ali Road instead, quieter but still walkable to the station.

yeah the mobile shop guy told me rent there runs about 40k for those tiny stalls, which says a lot about how the corner's changed

40k for those stalls sounds about right honestly, my cousin pays 38 for a similar one near the Lamington Rd junction. but those rates are prob pre-redevelopment quotes, once the new towers fill up expect closer to 60. stalls like that get squeezed out fast.

more like 55 now, broker quoted me in january

fair point on the lanes, though the footpath outside the old bar corner is still a mess after the monsoon

arrow_drop_up 1 arrow_drop_down

Image norabethke local ·

agreed on the worn look, but those lanes off Maulana Shaukat Ali Rd flood badly past Santacruz Chembur Link Rd junction in july, knee deep near the nullah. walkable to station yes, just not in monsoon

arrow_drop_up 5 arrow_drop_down

Image irmelie local ·

those new towers by the Grant Road east side are mostly empty still, so the worn look hangs around a bit longer.

That stretch got torn down for the Grant Road widening, its all new towers and a bank branch now, so the old bar corner is gone for good.

The bank branch is on the ground floor of the new tower but the old bar building had a small lane behind it that's still there, half the shops are shut. Honestly the stretch near the station feels crowded and noisy now, I'd rather live further up Sleater Road.

bank branch sounds right but i think only the front portion went, the back godown side survived for years as a scrap dealer. either way nothing worth stopping for now, the whole stretch lost its character

Visiting The Print Room gallery in Mumbai 2026

Coming to Mumbai for a week in 2026 and The Print Room is on my list. Is it walkable from the Kala Ghoda area and do they have regular opening hours or is it appointment only? The gallery sits in the Ballard Estate side, so it's more of a short cab ride than a stroll if you're starting near the Jehangir. Their timings shift around shows, so WhatsApp them the morning you plan to go. If you're in the area anyway, the bylanes around the old offices are worth a wander before or after.

Ballard Estate is a bit of a stretch from Kala Ghoda honestly, it's more like a 20 min walk past the RBI building.

weekday afternoons is right but they shut by 6 sharp so don't roll in at 5:30 expecting a look around
