best cheap eats near the daily plate in 2026?

Weekend queue at Daily Plate moves quicker before 9, after that it snakes past the corner. If the wait gets long I just walk two minutes to the Irani cafe near the station for akuri on toast, cheaper and no line. Their keema pav is the better order anyway, breakfast plates are fine but the pav gets cold fast.

yeah the pav cooling is real, i just ask for extra gravy on the side to keep it soft. tbh the akuri at that place beats most south bombay cafes and costs half. try the brun maska too if u go before 8

Extra gravy on the side is smart, though I'd skip the brun maska and get the mawa cake from the bakery two doors down instead.

arrow_drop_up 2 arrow_drop_down

gravy on the side is the real trick, works every time

akuri holds up because they use fresh pav from the bakery next door, not the day old stuff most south bombay places pass off

arrow_drop_up 1 arrow_drop_down

Ask for the bun maska with extra butter, it's the one thing worth beating the crowd for.

the keema pav is the move but get there before 8:30, after that the gravy thickens up sitting in the tray. i usually grab a cutting chai next door while i wait. u ever tried their brun?

arrow_drop_up 3 arrow_drop_down

Haven't tried their brun, is it softer than the regular pav or same crust?

arrow_drop_up 5 arrow_drop_down

Image leniknecht local ·

honestly their brun is denser than regular pav so ask for it lightly toasted or it turns brick hard by 9

That Irani spot also does a solid mutton kheema with extra pav for about 90 bucks if u get there before the trays run dry.

Noise complaints in Mumbai 2026: what actually works

fmd_goodThe Pickle Barrel · #mumbai #noise #bandra

arrow_drop_up 6 arrow_drop_down

visiting mumbai and stayed in bandra for a month, the drilling thing was hopeless but calling the ward office about a bar's late license actually got someone out

arrow_drop_up 1 arrow_drop_down
Image norabethke local ·

yeah the ward office route works better than 100 for licensed places, but for the drilling it's the society secretary who has to actually threaten the builder

arrow_drop_up 1 arrow_drop_down

Secretary has to put it in writing to the builder's site engineer, cc the ward, or it's just shouting at the watchman.

arrow_drop_up 2 arrow_drop_down

the ward office thing tracks, but it's the license renewal window that actually bites them. call the ward office in Feb or March when bar licenses come up for renewal, not mid-season. a threat to the license lands harder than a noise complaint ever will.

Good point on the timing. In practice the real pressure point is the police NOC that gets renewed alongside the excise licence, so a written complaint logged at the local station in that same window sits on their file.

arrow_drop_up 24 arrow_drop_down

written complaint at the station gets you a receipt number, ask for it

arrow_drop_up 1 arrow_drop_down

Worth adding that the NOC sits with the local station's senior inspector, so file it there and not at the chowky.

arrow_drop_up 2 arrow_drop_down

Image regine local ·

Ask the station's senior inspector for the NOC file number when you log it, that reference is what the excise clerk checks.

Image adelinefor… local ·

Mid-April actually, excise renewals run to 31 March.

Drilling stops only when the RWA actually files it.
