Chembur's Best Kept Secret?

Any recommendations for something truly amazing but not too spicy or adventurous? I'm thinking something that a local would recommend, you know, something genuinely delicious that maybe isn't on every tourist list. I want an authentic Chembur experience, not just another generic Indian meal. Hoping to avoid any major stomach upsets too!

skip the hype around the main road stalls tbh. head to the little koliwada colony near the mangal bazar signal, there's this one aunty who sets up a tiny cart for bhel and sev puri around 5pm. it's not on any list but the chutneys are mild and sweet, not the fiery red kind, and she'll tweak it if u ask. way more authentic than the chaat you'd get at the big names in chembur east

You could head to Guru Kripa on Sion-Trombay Road. They've been around for decades and their cheese dosa is genuinely perfect for a picky eater. It's a safe bet, not spicy at all, but the texture and flavor are way better than what you'd get at a standard joint. It's a local staple for families, not tourists, so you won't feel like you're in a food court.

honestly just walk into any of the south indian joints on chembur camp road, like ramashray or the older annapurna, and order a plain rava masala dosa with extra ghee. it's crispy, buttery, and the masala filling is just potato with a little turmeric, zero heat. the filter coffee they serve after is the real reason locals keep coming back, it's thick and frothy and cuts through everything. not a secret spot but it's where actual chembur families go on a sunday, not tourists

I want to sell my old clothes

ngl the easiest way is to just hand them over to a scrapwala near your building, they'll sort through and take what they want, rest goes to recycling. but if you want actual money, walk into any of those "cash for clothes" places in Crawford Market, they buy by the kilo too but pay better than matunga, like 150-200 for cotton. just don't bring anything with stains or tears, they'll reject it outright and you'll waste your time hauling it there

fwiw you could also try the Instagram thrift stores that are based out of mumbai, like "bombay thrift store" or "mumbai thrift club". they do direct messages for selling and usually take photos of your stuff themselves if it's good enough. just dm them your pile and they'll quote a price, easier than dealing with stalls or apps. also, if you have any branded stuff, try the "luxury thrift" pages instead, they pay way better for zara or h&m than the general ones

The St. Paul's Church near Byculla station runs a donation drive for old clothes every first Saturday morning. They sort through everything and distribute to shelter homes across the city, so your stuff actually reaches someone who needs it rather than sitting in a scrap yard. Just drop off before 11am or the volunteers pack up for the day.
