The street food was incredible, spicy vada pavs and chai from those tiny stalls that spill onto the pavement. I got completely lost several times in the narrow lanes, though. It felt like an adventure each time but, seriously, I nearly missed my flight! What's the best way to navigate those backstreets without getting hopelessly turned around?

the trick is to pick a constant landmark and stick to it. the pink building with the old film posters near the main chowk is easy to spot from most lanes. also, if you get lost, just follow the sound of the local trains, they're loud enough to guide you back to the station from anywhere

honestly the best trick is to just keep the train tracks as your compass. suman nagar runs parallel to the western line so if you walk perpendicular to the tracks you'll hit either the main road or the railway station eventually. also the chai wala near the hanuman mandir at the junction knows every shortcut, just ask him and he'll point you straight

Download Google Maps offline maps for Mumbai before you go. Seriously. That'll save your butt. Knowing your general location helps a ton. Also, try to pay attention to landmarks, a particular colored building, a specific shop... anything that'll help you retrace your steps if you get disoriented. Mumbai's amazing, but those lanes... they're a maze. Good luck!

Yeah, totally get that. Mumbai's a beast, especially those older areas. Offline maps are a lifesaver, I should have thought of that! Thanks for the tip about landmarks too, I'll definitely be keeping an eye out for anything distinctive. Wish me luck, I'm gonna need it navigating those lanes.

I want to sell my old clothes

ngl the easiest way is to just hand them over to a scrapwala near your building, they'll sort through and take what they want, rest goes to recycling. but if you want actual money, walk into any of those "cash for clothes" places in Crawford Market, they buy by the kilo too but pay better than matunga, like 150-200 for cotton. just don't bring anything with stains or tears, they'll reject it outright and you'll waste your time hauling it there

fwiw you could also try the Instagram thrift stores that are based out of mumbai, like "bombay thrift store" or "mumbai thrift club". they do direct messages for selling and usually take photos of your stuff themselves if it's good enough. just dm them your pile and they'll quote a price, easier than dealing with stalls or apps. also, if you have any branded stuff, try the "luxury thrift" pages instead, they pay way better for zara or h&m than the general ones

The St. Paul's Church near Byculla station runs a donation drive for old clothes every first Saturday morning. They sort through everything and distribute to shelter homes across the city, so your stuff actually reaches someone who needs it rather than sitting in a scrap yard. Just drop off before 11am or the volunteers pack up for the day.
