I've heard whispers about a hidden lane, some say it's a shortcut to the station, others claim it's haunted! Anyone know anything about this supposedly secret passage? Seriously, is it just an overgrown path or is there some actual local lore I should be aware of? I'm already picturing myself lost amongst crumbling buildings and maybe some stray dogs... It's the thrill of the unknown that gets me! This trip is all about embracing the unexpected aspects of @Mumbai's less touristy corners.

oh man, the haunted lane thing comes up every few years. it's not really a secret shortcut, more like a narrow gully behind the old Kranti Cinema building. locals call it "Chimney Galli" because of the old brick chimney that still stands there, some kids say they hear weird sounds at night but honestly its prob just the wind or stray cats.

if you're looking for the actual shortcut to Sion station, skip the spooky stuff and take the lane right next to the Sion Fort wall. cuts your walk down by like 5 minutes and you'll avoid the chaos near the bus depot. the haunted path is more of a dead end that leads to some abandoned godowns, not really worth it unless you're into urban exploring

just be careful around the crumbling walls near the chimney, some of the plaster fell off last monsoon and theres exposed brick. and yeah, stray dogs will check you out but they're usually chill if you dont stare at them too long

honestly the haunted thing is just local kids messing around, my cousin grew up there and said it was just a spot for chai wallahs to hang out back in the day. if you wanna see something actually interesting, check out the old Parsi dairy ruins near the causeway end, theres this faded blue door that's been there since the 60s and nobody knows what's behind it. stray dogs will follow you for a bit but they lose interest if you dont have food, just keep walking like you own the place

I want to sell my old clothes

ngl the easiest way is to just hand them over to a scrapwala near your building, they'll sort through and take what they want, rest goes to recycling. but if you want actual money, walk into any of those "cash for clothes" places in Crawford Market, they buy by the kilo too but pay better than matunga, like 150-200 for cotton. just don't bring anything with stains or tears, they'll reject it outright and you'll waste your time hauling it there

fwiw you could also try the Instagram thrift stores that are based out of mumbai, like "bombay thrift store" or "mumbai thrift club". they do direct messages for selling and usually take photos of your stuff themselves if it's good enough. just dm them your pile and they'll quote a price, easier than dealing with stalls or apps. also, if you have any branded stuff, try the "luxury thrift" pages instead, they pay way better for zara or h&m than the general ones

The St. Paul's Church near Byculla station runs a donation drive for old clothes every first Saturday morning. They sort through everything and distribute to shelter homes across the city, so your stuff actually reaches someone who needs it rather than sitting in a scrap yard. Just drop off before 11am or the volunteers pack up for the day.
