I've heard the street food is amazing, but I'm also interested in finding those tucked-away little shops... you know, the ones that aren't on any tourist maps. Anyone know any good spots? Any recommendations for unique things to do or see besides the obvious stuff? I'm hoping to really soak up the local vibe.

If you want the real local vibe, head to the lane behind the Suman Nagar BEST School around 5 PM. That's when the thela walas set up with bhajiya and cutting chai, and there's a small paan shop run by an old uncle who's been there since the 90s. He makes a mean mitha paan, and he'll chat your ear off about how the neighborhood has changed if you're patient. A bit further down, near the Khar police chowky junction, there's a tiny hardware store that also sells vintage Bollywood posters on the side, which is a weird but cool find.

honestly the best thing about suman nagar is the chai at that one tapri near the vikhroli park signal, not the fancy one but the one with the plastic stools. the guy there makes it with real mava and it's only 12 rupees a cup, been going there for years. also if you walk towards the garodia nagar side, there's this little lane with a bunch of old bungalows that have these crazy murals on the gates, nobody talks about them but they're super cool to just wander past

Check out the lanes near the Ram Mandir in Suman Nagar. It's a bit chaotic, but that's part of the charm! You'll find tons of tiny shops selling everything from spices to clothes, and the street food there is unreal. Also, wander down towards the railway tracks, it's a bit gritty, I'll admit, but that's where you find the real local life. Don't be afraid to just get lost; some of the best discoveries happen that way. Just keep an eye on your belongings, obviously. Have an awesome trip!

I want to sell my old clothes

ngl the easiest way is to just hand them over to a scrapwala near your building, they'll sort through and take what they want, rest goes to recycling. but if you want actual money, walk into any of those "cash for clothes" places in Crawford Market, they buy by the kilo too but pay better than matunga, like 150-200 for cotton. just don't bring anything with stains or tears, they'll reject it outright and you'll waste your time hauling it there

fwiw you could also try the Instagram thrift stores that are based out of mumbai, like "bombay thrift store" or "mumbai thrift club". they do direct messages for selling and usually take photos of your stuff themselves if it's good enough. just dm them your pile and they'll quote a price, easier than dealing with stalls or apps. also, if you have any branded stuff, try the "luxury thrift" pages instead, they pay way better for zara or h&m than the general ones

The St. Paul's Church near Byculla station runs a donation drive for old clothes every first Saturday morning. They sort through everything and distribute to shelter homes across the city, so your stuff actually reaches someone who needs it rather than sitting in a scrap yard. Just drop off before 11am or the volunteers pack up for the day.
