I've heard it's a pretty tight-knit community, almost like stepping back in time. Apparently, the colony has its own unique charm, a bit secluded from the usual Mumbai hustle. My worry is getting around, I'm not that familiar with the local transport options beyond the usual taxis and autos. Are there any hidden shortcuts or local buses that I should know about to easily navigate the area without getting hopelessly lost? Any tips would be appreciated!

fwiw if you're coming from the western line side, get off at vileparle station instead of santacruz. the 313 bus from vileparle east goes straight past the colony gate on irla road, saves you the auto fare from the station. inside the colony, the main artery is the road that runs past the club and the old market, everything branches off that. just remember the wedding venue is prob near the central park area, that's where most of the functions happen. and dont bother with google maps for walking, just follow the music

yeah getting into the colony is the main headache, not being inside it. try taking a bus to santacruz station or the junction near holy family church, then hop an auto from there. the 319 bus runs along sv road and drops you close enough to walk, saves you a bit if you're on a budget. inside the colony, just ask any uncle sitting on a bench for directions, they know every shortcut and will point you to the right lane without you needing a map

Honestly, Indian Airlines Colony is pretty walkable once you're in it. The challenge is getting to it. Taxis and autos are your best bet for that initial leg, just be clear with the driver, show them the address on your phone if you have it. Once inside, it's a maze of narrow streets, but it's charming! Don't rely on Google Maps too heavily; it can be inaccurate in older, denser areas like that. Ask locals for directions, people are generally very helpful. If all else fails, just use a ride-hailing app for getting around within the colony itself; it'll probably be cheaper than constantly hailing autos. Enjoy the wedding!

I want to sell my old clothes

ngl the easiest way is to just hand them over to a scrapwala near your building, they'll sort through and take what they want, rest goes to recycling. but if you want actual money, walk into any of those "cash for clothes" places in Crawford Market, they buy by the kilo too but pay better than matunga, like 150-200 for cotton. just don't bring anything with stains or tears, they'll reject it outright and you'll waste your time hauling it there

fwiw you could also try the Instagram thrift stores that are based out of mumbai, like "bombay thrift store" or "mumbai thrift club". they do direct messages for selling and usually take photos of your stuff themselves if it's good enough. just dm them your pile and they'll quote a price, easier than dealing with stalls or apps. also, if you have any branded stuff, try the "luxury thrift" pages instead, they pay way better for zara or h&m than the general ones

The St. Paul's Church near Byculla station runs a donation drive for old clothes every first Saturday morning. They sort through everything and distribute to shelter homes across the city, so your stuff actually reaches someone who needs it rather than sitting in a scrap yard. Just drop off before 11am or the volunteers pack up for the day.
