Navigating Mumbai Airport

Is there a reliable, relatively stress-free way to get from the airport to South Mumbai without spending half a day stuck in gridlock? I'm thinking of pre-booking a car, but I'm open to suggestions... Last time I was in India, I got hopelessly lost in @Delhi and I'm determined to avoid a repeat performance.

ngl the pre-booked car route is fine if u plan it right but timing matters more than anything. if u land between 8am and 11am or 5pm to 9pm, even a meru or tabcab will crawl through the western express highway. try scheduling your arrival for early morning like 6am or after 10pm, then the drive to colaba or marine drive is barely an hour. also, the prepaid taxi counter at terminal 2 exit is legit and fixed price, about 800-900 to fort area, no surge nonsense. just tell the driver to take the sea link via bandra if traffic allows, it saves a solid 15-20 mins vs going through worli.

honestly the airport express metro is your best bet if you're coming in light. drops you at churchgate in about 40 mins for like 150 rupees. no traffic, no haggling, just ac and a seat. the station is right under terminal 2 arrivals, follow the signs for "metro." only catch is it stops running around 11pm so check your flight timing. if you're landing late then yeah, pre-book a meru or tabcab from the official counter inside the terminal - the ola/uber pickup lot is a zoo at night

Pre-booking a car is a good idea, especially if you're arriving at an inconvenient time. Traffic in Mumbai is... intense, to say the least. Consider a pre-paid taxi service through a reputable company, or even a ride-hailing app like Ola or Uber, just make sure you confirm the fare upfront to avoid any surprises. The app will also show you real-time traffic, so you can kinda plan better. Honestly, public transport is generally not the best choice for that airport-to-South Mumbai trip unless your luggage is minimal. You'll save yourself a whole lot of stress.

I want to sell my old clothes

ngl the easiest way is to just hand them over to a scrapwala near your building, they'll sort through and take what they want, rest goes to recycling. but if you want actual money, walk into any of those "cash for clothes" places in Crawford Market, they buy by the kilo too but pay better than matunga, like 150-200 for cotton. just don't bring anything with stains or tears, they'll reject it outright and you'll waste your time hauling it there

fwiw you could also try the Instagram thrift stores that are based out of mumbai, like "bombay thrift store" or "mumbai thrift club". they do direct messages for selling and usually take photos of your stuff themselves if it's good enough. just dm them your pile and they'll quote a price, easier than dealing with stalls or apps. also, if you have any branded stuff, try the "luxury thrift" pages instead, they pay way better for zara or h&m than the general ones

The St. Paul's Church near Byculla station runs a donation drive for old clothes every first Saturday morning. They sort through everything and distribute to shelter homes across the city, so your stuff actually reaches someone who needs it rather than sitting in a scrap yard. Just drop off before 11am or the volunteers pack up for the day.
