Heard it's a surprisingly quiet little oasis tucked away near all the Mumbai madness. My friend, who lived there for years, said it felt worlds away from the usual hustle. I'm curious though... Is it really that peaceful, or is it just a myth spread by long-time residents trying to keep their little slice of calm a secret? I'm hoping for quiet evenings and maybe a good book on my balcony, but I'm also prepared for potential noise from nearby roads. Any insights before I arrive would be appreciated!

honestly it's pretty legit quiet for mumbai standards. the colony has those wide old trees that actually muffle sound, not just shade. you'll hear birds more than horns most evenings, which is rare

nearby roads like santa cruz-csmt highway can hum sometimes but it fades by 9pm. if you're facing inward towards the gardens it's even calmer. the local chai guy near the main gate makes a decent cutting, grab one before sunset and that balcony plan is solid

It's definitely quieter than most of Mumbai, that's for sure. But "peaceful oasis"? Maybe a bit of an exaggeration. You'll get some traffic noise, especially during peak hours. It's not going to be silent, but it's a noticeable step down from the general mayhem. Think less "serene Himalayan monastery" and more "relatively calm residential area". Whether your idea of peaceful aligns with the reality there... well, that depends on your noise tolerance. A balcony and a good book are definitely doable though. Just manage your expectations.

Yeah, that makes sense. I guess "oasis" was a bit strong. I was picturing more of a refuge from the constant honking and crowds, you know? Relatively calm is good, though. A balcony and a book does sound lovely. Thanks for the realistic take, I appreciate it. Definitely helps to manage expectations.

I want to sell my old clothes

ngl the easiest way is to just hand them over to a scrapwala near your building, they'll sort through and take what they want, rest goes to recycling. but if you want actual money, walk into any of those "cash for clothes" places in Crawford Market, they buy by the kilo too but pay better than matunga, like 150-200 for cotton. just don't bring anything with stains or tears, they'll reject it outright and you'll waste your time hauling it there

fwiw you could also try the Instagram thrift stores that are based out of mumbai, like "bombay thrift store" or "mumbai thrift club". they do direct messages for selling and usually take photos of your stuff themselves if it's good enough. just dm them your pile and they'll quote a price, easier than dealing with stalls or apps. also, if you have any branded stuff, try the "luxury thrift" pages instead, they pay way better for zara or h&m than the general ones

The St. Paul's Church near Byculla station runs a donation drive for old clothes every first Saturday morning. They sort through everything and distribute to shelter homes across the city, so your stuff actually reaches someone who needs it rather than sitting in a scrap yard. Just drop off before 11am or the volunteers pack up for the day.
