Sion East Mysteries

They say it only opens at dawn, sells out in minutes, and the owner never speaks. Anyone know anything about this? I'm desperate to find it! Seriously, I've been scouring the internet, and I've come up with nothing but old real estate listings. It's driving me crazy. Is this a myth or am I missing something obvious?

honestly i think you're overthinking this. there's a spot under the flyover near the station exit, the one with the broken streetlight. old guy, never smiles, just hands you a plate of vada pav wrapped in newspaper. he's there from like 5:30 to 6:15, no later. if you blink you'll miss it. bring exact change, he won't take anything bigger than a 20.

Nah, it's not a myth. Sion East's got a lot of hidden food spots, that's for sure. Dawn thing sounds legit though... sounds like one of those super-local places only the real residents know about. Forget the internet; your best bet is to just wander around the area near the station really early. Like, seriously early. Ask around, maybe chat with some chai wallahs or people waiting for trains. Word of mouth is your only weapon here. You'll probably see a small crowd gathering somewhere if you're there before sunrise. Good luck, you'll need it! That kind of legendary street food is worth the hunt.

The second reply is pretty much bang on, that's the one. It's not really a secret if you know the area, it's just that no one posts about it online. The flyover spot near platform 3 exit is exactly right, and the broken streetlight is the landmark. If you get there at 5:45 and there's a line of about six or seven people standing silently, you're in the right place. The vada pav is good, but honestly the thing to order is the misal pav, he makes it spicier than anyone else in the neighborhood. Just don't try to chat with him, he's been doing this for thirty years and he's not about to start now.

I want to sell my old clothes

ngl the easiest way is to just hand them over to a scrapwala near your building, they'll sort through and take what they want, rest goes to recycling. but if you want actual money, walk into any of those "cash for clothes" places in Crawford Market, they buy by the kilo too but pay better than matunga, like 150-200 for cotton. just don't bring anything with stains or tears, they'll reject it outright and you'll waste your time hauling it there

fwiw you could also try the Instagram thrift stores that are based out of mumbai, like "bombay thrift store" or "mumbai thrift club". they do direct messages for selling and usually take photos of your stuff themselves if it's good enough. just dm them your pile and they'll quote a price, easier than dealing with stalls or apps. also, if you have any branded stuff, try the "luxury thrift" pages instead, they pay way better for zara or h&m than the general ones

The St. Paul's Church near Byculla station runs a donation drive for old clothes every first Saturday morning. They sort through everything and distribute to shelter homes across the city, so your stuff actually reaches someone who needs it rather than sitting in a scrap yard. Just drop off before 11am or the volunteers pack up for the day.
