Lost Luggage at CSMIA?

The flight was delayed, naturally, and now my bag's gone missing! Seriously, I've flown through dozens of airports, from @London's Heathrow to @Dubai's massive airport, and never had this happen. I'm stuck here, in this crazy bustling airport, with just the clothes on my back and a slightly panicked feeling. Anyone know the best way to handle lost luggage at CSMIA? Is there a secret hotline, some hidden office, a magical luggage fairy? Help!!

Your airline's baggage desk is the first stop, but if they give you the runaround, there's a centralized lost luggage office in the basement of T2 near the parking lot elevator. It's not well marked, but the staff there have access to the whole airport's tracking system, not just one airline's. Also, most travel insurance policies cover delayed baggage after 6 hours, so check yours before you buy anything new. Grab a bun maska and chai from the Irani cafe near the arrivals exit, it's a proper Mumbai spot right inside the terminal.

yeah the airline itself is ur best bet tbh, their baggage office is right next to the belt where u landed, not the main lost and found. if ur flying indigo or vistara they usually have a whatsapp number for tracking, way faster than standing in line. also check if ur travel insurance covers delayed luggage, some policies pay out for essentials like clothes within 6 hours. grab a cigarette at the smoking zone near departures if u need to decompress, it's the only place u can actually breathe in that chaos

dude just go straight to the airline's baggage service desk near your carousel, not the airport lost and found. the airport office is gonna take forever. also check if ur airline has a tracking app, most of them do now and it's way faster than calling someone. grab a cutting chai from the stall near the exit if u need a pick-me-up

I want to sell my old clothes

ngl the easiest way is to just hand them over to a scrapwala near your building, they'll sort through and take what they want, rest goes to recycling. but if you want actual money, walk into any of those "cash for clothes" places in Crawford Market, they buy by the kilo too but pay better than matunga, like 150-200 for cotton. just don't bring anything with stains or tears, they'll reject it outright and you'll waste your time hauling it there

fwiw you could also try the Instagram thrift stores that are based out of mumbai, like "bombay thrift store" or "mumbai thrift club". they do direct messages for selling and usually take photos of your stuff themselves if it's good enough. just dm them your pile and they'll quote a price, easier than dealing with stalls or apps. also, if you have any branded stuff, try the "luxury thrift" pages instead, they pay way better for zara or h&m than the general ones

The St. Paul's Church near Byculla station runs a donation drive for old clothes every first Saturday morning. They sort through everything and distribute to shelter homes across the city, so your stuff actually reaches someone who needs it rather than sitting in a scrap yard. Just drop off before 11am or the volunteers pack up for the day.
