It was like trying to wash my hair with a leaky faucet. Seriously, I spent longer trying to get clean than I did actually sleeping. The rest of the place was fine, decent location, friendly staff. But that shower... man. Anyone else experienced this? Maybe it's just my room? I'm thinking of going back next month, but if the shower situation is the same, I'll need to find a new place. The whole trip should of been amazing, but it left me feeling... less than refreshed.

I've heard this complaint from a few people who've stayed there. The issue is mostly on the upper floors where the water has to fight gravity more. If you're set on going back, ask for room 107 or 108 on the ground floor near the back, the pressure is noticeably better there because it's closer to the main tank. Otherwise, check out Hotel Grace on the next block, it's about the same price but the bathrooms were redone last year and the showers actually work.

The shower issue at Prakash Inn is unfortunately a known thing, I've had friends complain about the same. If you're heading back, try booking a room on the south side of the building, those rooms get the afternoon sun and the pipes warm up a bit, which helps the flow. Otherwise, you could try Hotel Samrat on Lamington Road, it's a 10 minute walk from Prakash Inn and the water pressure there is solid, plus they have a pretty good rooftop cafe.

yeah that's pretty standard for prakash inn tbh. the building's old plumbing just can't handle the pressure from the municipal line. if u go back ask for a room on the 2nd floor facing the back alley, those have smaller tanks that build up a bit more force. or just switch to hotel orange down the street on s.v. road, similar price but the showers are actually decent

I want to sell my old clothes

ngl the easiest way is to just hand them over to a scrapwala near your building, they'll sort through and take what they want, rest goes to recycling. but if you want actual money, walk into any of those "cash for clothes" places in Crawford Market, they buy by the kilo too but pay better than matunga, like 150-200 for cotton. just don't bring anything with stains or tears, they'll reject it outright and you'll waste your time hauling it there

fwiw you could also try the Instagram thrift stores that are based out of mumbai, like "bombay thrift store" or "mumbai thrift club". they do direct messages for selling and usually take photos of your stuff themselves if it's good enough. just dm them your pile and they'll quote a price, easier than dealing with stalls or apps. also, if you have any branded stuff, try the "luxury thrift" pages instead, they pay way better for zara or h&m than the general ones

The St. Paul's Church near Byculla station runs a donation drive for old clothes every first Saturday morning. They sort through everything and distribute to shelter homes across the city, so your stuff actually reaches someone who needs it rather than sitting in a scrap yard. Just drop off before 11am or the volunteers pack up for the day.
