If you're okay with a bit of a walk, cut through the lanes near the old Mahatma Gandhi school and look for the lady who sets up a small tawa stall outside a shut-down optician's shop. She does these crispy paneer and onion sandwiches that get slathered in this spicy green chutney, it's nothing like the roadside grill places. She's only there evenings, and it's cash only, so carry small notes. Also, don't bother asking the chai guy next to her for directions, he'll just point you to the station.

honestly skip the main roads and head towards the old gaothan area behind the Sion-Trombay road. there's this tiny stall near the Hanuman temple, no name on it, just a guy frying up bhel and ragda patties that taste like they've been doing it since the 90s. the ragda is thick, not watery like the commercial places, and he piles on the sev without charging extra.

another one is the kulfi wala who parks his cart near the Diamond Garden signal around 7pm. it's not the fancy falooda stuff, just malai kulfi on a stick, but the cardamom hit is unreal. ask for the one with the pistachio slivers on top, he keeps those aside for regulars.

if you want something savoury to balance it out, there's a small joint on the lane opposite Vashi Naka bus stop, they do a mean vada pav but the real trick is their pav bhaji, it's got a smoky burnt butter finish that you won't find at any of the big names. just go before 8pm, they shut early when the stock runs out.

avoid the places near the station, that's all tourist stuff and overpriced. the real Chembur is about following the smell of frying onions and finding a plastic stool to sit on.

dunno if it counts as hidden but the lane behind the bus depot has a guy selling chaat from a tiffin box setup. he's only there till noon. most people walk straight past him.

have u tried the chor bazaar route? not for selling to shops but the friday morning flea guys near mumbadevi, some of them buy vintage/retro pieces outright and pay better than the bale walas if ur stuff has any character. got 800 for a bunch of old levi's and band tees there. thing is u gotta go early like 6am and know how to hold ur ground, they smell desperation instantly

one thing nobody mentioned, watch out for the weight vs piece thing. kabadiwalas and bale buyers pay by kilo so heavy stuff like denim and woolens actually earn more than fancy light stuff. i cleared a whole bag of old jeans to a guy in Malad for way better than what my branded shirts fetched. also wash everything before u show it, sounds obvious but dusty clothes get lowballed on sight.

honestly the timing matters more than the platform. end of month is when people get salary and actually buy, so list ur stuff around the 1st or 2nd. also post pics in natural light near a window, not on ur bed with flash, makes a huge difference on OLX and insta thrift pages. i've flipped a lot of my old stuff this way and the same kurta that got ignored at 300 sold for 500 when i relisted it properly.
