Lost Luggage at CSMIA?

Something people rarely mention: your travel insurance claim has a clock on it. Most policies want the PIR and a written airline confirmation of non-delivery within 21 days, and if you wait for the bag before filing, you can blow past that window. File the claim now with whatever paperwork you have, then update it if the bag turns up.

Also check whether your credit card covers delayed baggage, several Indian cards do and it stacks separately from your travel policy. honestly the success rate is decent but it depends a lot on which airline handled your bag, not just CSMIA itself. if it was a European carrier like BA or Virgin, they usually route it back through their own Delhi or Bangalore hub first, so it can take 10 days or more even after they locate it. one thing people miss: call the airline's local Mumbai office directly on their landline, not the toll free number, you get actual humans who can see the bag scan history. also keep your PIR receipt safe, without that number nobody will talk to you.

Ugh, that's the worst. CSMIA... I feel your pain. My sister's bag went missing there a few months ago, flight from @Dubai. It took about a week, but she got everything back. They said a lot depends on how quickly you file the report and if they can track the bag through the system. If it's international, it takes longer, obviously. Honestly, the whole process is a lottery, but don't lose hope. Keep checking the status online; they'll usually update it if/when they find it.

have u tried the chor bazaar route? not for selling to shops but the friday morning flea guys near mumbadevi, some of them buy vintage/retro pieces outright and pay better than the bale walas if ur stuff has any character. got 800 for a bunch of old levi's and band tees there. thing is u gotta go early like 6am and know how to hold ur ground, they smell desperation instantly

one thing nobody mentioned, watch out for the weight vs piece thing. kabadiwalas and bale buyers pay by kilo so heavy stuff like denim and woolens actually earn more than fancy light stuff. i cleared a whole bag of old jeans to a guy in Malad for way better than what my branded shirts fetched. also wash everything before u show it, sounds obvious but dusty clothes get lowballed on sight.

honestly the timing matters more than the platform. end of month is when people get salary and actually buy, so list ur stuff around the 1st or 2nd. also post pics in natural light near a window, not on ur bed with flash, makes a huge difference on OLX and insta thrift pages. i've flipped a lot of my old stuff this way and the same kurta that got ignored at 300 sold for 500 when i relisted it properly.
