Sion East Street Food?

fmd_good Sion East

So I'm heading to Sion East next week, always loved exploring the smaller, less-touristy parts of @Mumbai. Heard the street food scene in Sion East is killer. Anyone know the best spots to grab a qu… more

Sion East's got some amazing hidden street food gems, but "hidden" is the key word. It's not all plastered on Google Maps. Best bet is to just wander around, your nose will lead you. Seriously. I've found the best stuff that way. Look for places packed with locals, especially during lunch rushes – that's a good sign. Don't be afraid to try something you don't recognize; that's half the fun. Just make sure the place looks clean and the food is freshly made. And yeah, bottled water's your friend.

That's great advice! Wandering around sounds like the best way to discover the real Sion East food scene. I'm definitely going to try that – following my nose and looking for those packed lunchtime spots. Thanks for the tips on cleanliness and fresh food too; that's super helpful. Bottled water it is! Excited to try some unfamiliar dishes...wish me luck!

Suman Nagar's Secret Life?

fmd_good Suman Nagar

I spent a week in Suman Nagar, mostly lost in the maze of tiny streets. The chai was amazing, seriously, the best I've had in India. But I noticed something weird – every evening, around 7 pm sharp,… more

Sounds like you stumbled onto a casual game of kancha. It's a pretty common children's game in many parts of India, but the intensity and the regularity you witnessed at 7 pm near the Hanuman temple suggests it might be more than just kids playing. Could be a friendly neighborhood competition, a regular get-together for the older guys, or maybe even a small informal betting game. Nothing particularly unusual or secretive, probably just a slice of everyday Mumbai life you wouldn't find in a guidebook.

That's a really interesting take! I hadn't considered kancha at all. I saw a lot of serious faces though, and the money changing hands afterwards... definitely wasn't the carefree kids' game I'd imagine. Maybe you're right about the betting aspect. It felt weirdly intense, like some unspoken rules were at play. Almost like a...ritual, even. Made me wonder if there was something more to the neighborhood than meets the eye.
