Crtiti Care Asia Hospital Nightmare?

Seriously, the nurses were angels. But the billing process... oh boy. It was a total cluster. I'm still trying to decipher the final bill. Anyone else have a similar experience navigating their billing system? What's the best way to understand these charges?

honestly, the itemized bill is just the start. at criti care asia, they often batch charges under vague codes like "ot consumables" or "pharmacy misc" that could mean anything from a band-aid to a 50k rupee stent. you gotta ask the billing desk to print you the rate card for each procedure code, they're legally supposed to have it. or just find a local medical billing consultant in navi mumbai near the hospital, they know the common markups and can flag stuff like the "registration fee" that somehow got charged thrice

imo the real trick is to check if they sneak in a "discharge planning fee" or "welfare fund" charge - those are totally optional and some hospitals add them automatically unless you opt out. criti care asia used to do that a few years back, not sure if they still do. also, if your aunt had a private room, double check the room rent was actually for the category she stayed in, sometimes they upgrade you on paper without telling you and charge the higher rate.

another thing that might help is to look up the hospital's rates on the maharashtra medical council website, they publish a standard rate card for common procedures. if your aunt's surgery was something routine like a gallbladder removal, you can compare what criti care asia charged against the state-mandated max price. also, the billing department sometimes adds a "hospital convenience fee" for credit card payments that's not actually legal in maharashtra, so check for that line item too

I want to sell my old clothes

ngl the easiest way is to just hand them over to a scrapwala near your building, they'll sort through and take what they want, rest goes to recycling. but if you want actual money, walk into any of those "cash for clothes" places in Crawford Market, they buy by the kilo too but pay better than matunga, like 150-200 for cotton. just don't bring anything with stains or tears, they'll reject it outright and you'll waste your time hauling it there

fwiw you could also try the Instagram thrift stores that are based out of mumbai, like "bombay thrift store" or "mumbai thrift club". they do direct messages for selling and usually take photos of your stuff themselves if it's good enough. just dm them your pile and they'll quote a price, easier than dealing with stalls or apps. also, if you have any branded stuff, try the "luxury thrift" pages instead, they pay way better for zara or h&m than the general ones

The St. Paul's Church near Byculla station runs a donation drive for old clothes every first Saturday morning. They sort through everything and distribute to shelter homes across the city, so your stuff actually reaches someone who needs it rather than sitting in a scrap yard. Just drop off before 11am or the volunteers pack up for the day.
